"Professional from the start. Provided a good estimate which they honored. Packing was done quickly and thoroughly; i.e. no broken items at all. Moved some very large pieced of furniture; big screen TV, China cabinet, Large computer desk with hutch which no damage to any items. Reassembled, desk, beds, etc. with no issue."

"I would strongly suggest that you NEVER USE
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
for your moving needs!!! While the guys that did our move did a fair job, although they did damage some items, their office people, especially their so called operations manager, Jerod
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
, are a whole different story! They are incompetent and unprofessional.
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
is rude to customers and not the least bit interested in correcting the company's mistakes or in customer satisfaction. Unfortunately many locations are franchised and the parent company apparently HAS LITTLE OR NO CONTROL over the franchise holders. When I could not get any satisfaction locally, I contacted the parent company to request assistance only to be told that from their past experience with this particular franchise, we could expect NO SATISFACTION! I really can't understand how they can have no control over their franchise holders, but that's basically what they indicated. I am specifically referring to the

,

franchise, owned by
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
, but since the parent company either does not screen the franchise applicants or has such a weak franchise agreement that they cannot insist on them upholding their company satisfaction promises and goals, I would suggest that all locations of
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
be boycotted!!! I expect to be moving again in six to twelve months and I WILL NOT be calling
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
for that move!!! They will not move you unless you pay their "estimated cost" IN FULL, UP FRONT! No honest business would request this!!! Never pay over half for any services to be rendered!!! After the move was completed, they gave us, in writing, the amount of refund they owed us, however, when the check came it was for $70.00 less than what they wrote IN THE CONTRACT!!! There was NO EXPLANATION as to why it was less than what they had given us in writing as the refund amount. Upon calling to find out when we would get the $70.00 they still owed us, they said they had made a computation error when giving the first number and we got the correct amount. No other explanation was given. Upon requesting to talk to the manager, some guy came on the phone and said "what do you want", did not identify himself and in the ensuing conversation was so rude and condescending to the point that I became so frustrated and angered that I hung up on him. After I had time to calm down I called back and requested his name from the woman who had assisted me previously and specifically told her I DID NOT WANT TO TALK TO HIM AGAIN, just wanted his name, but she turned the call over to him anyway. He was still rude and not interested in resolving the problem to MY SATISFACTION, which was to simply pay me the amount they originally said they owed me. Both the local franchise and the parent company try to hide behind so-called "Government regulated fees" that they have to pay. That of course has nothing to do with them paying IN FULL the total they said they would refund. Apparently they think that customers are so stupid that they will fall for the lame "blame it on a vague third party" trick. Maybe some do, but not me. I know a smoke screen when I see it! To sum it up, their business office and management is incompetent and rude. They do not uphold the parent company's mission and core standards. They have NO INTEREST in satisfying the customer in spite of the fact that the company website says: The mission of
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
? is to continuously strive to exceed our customers' expectations in value and high standard of satisfaction. (THEY FAILED AT THIS ONE) Core purpose We strive to be a role model in our industry. This purpose is reflected in everything we do. (THEY ARE A ROLE MODEL.... OF HOW NOT TO TREAT CUSTOMERS!!!) And also supposedly upholds what they call the Grandma

: THE GRANDMA
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
? To treat everyone the way you would want your Grandma to be treated. THE GRANDMA
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
? is a unique principle that we live by at
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
?. This
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
means we treat everyone the way you would want your grandmother to be treated ? with care and respect. Although we operate on a large, multi-
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
, international scale, we maintain a friendly, small-town feel. All of our franchises are dedicated to every detail involved in a move. Through every step we keep THE GRANDMA
Birmingham Movers Provider Name Locked
? in mind and treat your possessions as they were our own ? or our Grandma?s. (I HOPE THEY WOULD PAY THEIR GRANDMA THE MONEY THEY OWED HER, BUT MAYBE THEY WOULD TRY TO SCREW HER OUT OF IT LIKE THEY DID ME!) Integrity To always conduct oneself with honesty and fairness They did not show anything even closely resembling ANY OF the above, even after having it pointed out to them that it's on the company website. The parent company apparently has no control or recourse with franchise holders who do not uphold their mission or core values. If they screw you, you're just out of luck except to tell everyone they know not to do business with them and publicize their poor performance on every review and social networking site available. Recommended: Not NO, but ABSOLUTELY NO to any of their franchise locations!!!

Important questions to ask before hiring a moving company

Ask about hidden costs. A company should be able to provide you with a list of fees you could be charged, such as moving large items or traversing stairs. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Jim R. of Travelers Rest S.C.)

Dear Angie: What questions should I ask a mover?
Dear Eric: Who you hire to move your personal belongings is a big decision. As with most services, there are scams associated with rogue moving companies.

Moving? Avoid these 3 hidden fees

Moving companies can jack up prices on boxes, ropes, dollies and blankets, so make sure you know what's included before you pack up. (Photo courtesy of Two Men And A Truck of Fort Lauderdale/Boca Raton)

If you're moving, don't get stuck with hidden fees you didn't anticipate. Moving companies can hit you with fuel costs, trip charges and equipment fees for things like dollies, blankets, cords and straps.

Tips for moving out of state

One way you can make the move easier is by weeding out items you don’t need. Have a yard sale or find a local charitable organization and donate items you no longer use. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Charles T.)

Birmingham Movers Reviews

A
"Overall excellent. Quote for packing work day prior to move was a little off. Did not factor in the price of all the specialty antique boxes along with labor time per hour. We took this in stride since our move quote was so fair and reasonable, and the employees were so neat and professional. Only recommendation to do differently: Make sure all work is itemized to the penny as to number of employees, number of their boxes purchased, and time estimated for move. Our move took twice the length of time they had originally planned, but priced by job, not hours, so no extra charge. We tipped heavily due to this and they deserved it."

"They had to pick up items at two locations and deliver to one location. I had packed 79 boxes. They took care of everything else including the wrapping of large items and furniture. There were a number of very heavy items and some fragile items like a curved glass front

cabinet and a grandfather clock. The crew was a delight to be around. At times they actually ran back and forth to the truck. Since local moves are by the hour, that in the end was a saving to me. I will definitely be using them in a year when I move back to my house."
A
"They arrived early, worked really hard, took very good care of our stuff, and were pleasant and easy to work with. We thought the price was reasonable ($98/hour, including travel time from their office). Total was $539 for a short-distance move of furniture, large boxes, and miscellaneous garage type items from a house about 1300 square feet (we did the packing). They didn't use a hand truck, instead they hand carried the items, which saved our carpets from getting dirty. When they placed the furniture items in the new house, they wanted to be sure we were satisfied with where they had put it, and were willing to move things around if we wanted. Overall an excellent experience."
A
"They were very professional, on time, got everything done when they said they would, and charged me what the estimate was. They were also very careful with my things and didn't break anything, which I appreciated."
A
"Excellent service. No problem scheduling and everything went off according to schedule. Packing was done well and the workers were very good. Workers doing the moving were very capable, friendly, efficient, and hard working. The whole move was a very pleasant experience."
A
"The two men

sent were extremely professional and courteous. Although it took longer than I expected, that did not bother me because they were being so careful with my belongings. I would definitely hire them again."
A
"Over all well. They showed up ahead of time and were courteous and helpful. During the move I had a crisis come up and was on the phone with medical personnel and the movers were sympathetic and helpful. My only problem was that they left a lot of things upstairs and the townhouse and didn't tell me they had done so. "
A
"Changes in Latitude completely satisfied my every need. I was pleased because they were reliable and dependable. They were careful with my belongings and I only have good things to say about this company. They were fantastic."
