"My AC had been out all weekend. I called

at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. A serviceman was at my house in 30 minutes. He was polite and professional, examined the unit, explained to me what was wrong. He left to get a part, came back and finished the repair. I appreciated that he brought me the old malfunctioning part (a circuit board) to show me exactly what had gone wrong. He was finished before 11:00 that morning. He charged me $350, of which $150 was for the part. I thought $200 was a little steep for the visit and less than 2 hours labor--but hey, he got my AC working only 2.5 hours after I first contacted the company."

to do the work. I called the sales manager and gave him my approval to do the work. Since they were slammed, he sent someone over to temporarily rig my existing system to work in continuous operation (I would have to manually shut off the system). But after waiting three weeks (without hearing a word) I wound up hiring another company who came and put in $6000 in equipment; to date I've never heard a word from

"The service man arrived and discovered we didn't need a major overhaul of our AC....it was just dirty! He was clean, efficient, personable and knowledgable. He arrived on time, cleaned the entire system and left us smiling. Can't get better than that! We would call them again without hesitation."

"first of all, they called me to tell me that they were on my street and i would get a tremendous savings because of that. i was having air conditioning problems with my upstairs unit and was ready to call someone to check it out. they sent a repairman to do the check and clean. then they sent another person to hard sell me to replace all my units. i was told that it was illegal to charge my unit with freon, and that it was dangerous to me and my family. after hours of informing me, it came down to $5775.00 to replace the upstairs unit and the outside unit. i told them i needed to discuss this with my husband. i was very skeptical of them when i realized that they were not on my street. one lie

"Our ancient A/C had started freezing up - a sign that it was getting low on refrigerant again. We paid several hundred dollars last year to have it recharged, but had decided it was time to replace it the next time it had problems. On Sunday, 6/27 the old unit froze up and we decided it was time to act. On Monday I began calling HVAC contractors and by Wednesday had five estimates. Sentry's estimator was prompt and professional. He took the time to ask questions and examined the old equipment to make sure replacement was the right option. He went back to his office to do his calculations and then sent an e-mail with three separate and very thorough proposals for completing the work - at varying efficiency levels and corresponding price points. I contacted the estimator mid-day Wednesday to see if they'd be able to do the replacement this weekend, before the

4 holiday. He said they could and scheduled the work for Friday. Shortly before 8:00 on Friday morning, two technicians arrived from Sentry with all the necessary equipment to complete the job and quickly got to work. They were also very professional in both appearance and conduct. They worked the majority of the day - taking a break for lunch - and completed the job around 4:00 PM. They left both the area around the outside unit and the mechanical room in the house very neat and tidy. In the end, other than the new equipment, you could hardly tell that work had been done. Overall: a great experience with work performed exactly as quoted and in near-record time."

"The work crew arrived 15 minutes ahead of their ETA of 7:30am in three readily identifiable vans/pick-ups with corporate signs on the outside. As I got my other family members off to work and school, the crew got to work right away outside and under the house and gave us time to finish our preparations for the day inside. The crew worked with four men through the day until about 4:30, and then with two men to finish up around 6:30pm. They had planned to finish in one day, and they did. The crew were all well-spoken and courteous throughout the day, even when (as always happens in construction jobs) some tasks took extra pains to complete (such as the 3 to 4 hour job of sawing and hammering through a concrete floor to install the supply vent). The crew were always ready to talk about what they were doing, and how it was going. They managed to install everything (including the supply vent) without damaging the exisitng hardwood floor (which had been installed over the concrete) or other features of the house, and they cleaned up their works areas very well so that we had only to do some light sweeping and sponge mopping to pick up dust. I would highly recommend this company and its crew of long-standing employees who work together very well. And as need arises I will certainly use them again. Though their price was not the lowest (nor the highest), they clearly knew what they were doing and took pride in the kind of work they created. Why would I go any place else? "

"My AC unit was not in use because of the cool nights until late last week. Then I noticed the fan on the compressor was not running. I had installed a programmable thermostat last summer and had encountered some issues with wiring it properly. I hoped that was the problem. The technician checked the wiring, made an adjustment, but that didn't solve the problem. He checked the fan, found that the motor had failed. Before he went to pick up a new motor, he confirmed that the motor was under warranty -- on his own, without my requesting it -- and quoted me the price for diagnostics and labor. Returned 45 minutes later, replaced fan motor. Good to go. About the best experience, regardless of cost involved, I've ever had with HVAC maintenance or repair."
