Wow - I am jealous - a 40 foot LCD TV - that is what you call an mancave or NBA Arena (No Boys Allowed).
Seriously, the main board for a 40" Polaroid runs about $25-75 depending on model - bear in mind these are not typically slip-in socket boards - you are likely to have to disconnect and reconnect a number of wire connectors, and may have to do some soldering of connections. Google this search term - there are a number of companies selling them on the web - you will have to expand the search phrase with your exact model number to narrow the search - 40" Polaroid LCD TV main board
One thing to do first is call Polaroid - there are a number of comments on the web about a pending class action suit about Polaroid LCD TV main boards catching fire, and several commenters say that Polaroid sent a repairman to their home and replaced the main board for free when it failed, so you might try that first.

Television Repair reviews in Baltimore
I’ll try to be brief. I found this TV Repair on Angie’s List. I made an appointment for it off and on at least four or five times before the picture comes in clear. He said that he did home visits but he didn’t have any help to remove the set from the wall. I said I would help. He said he charged $85.00 for the visit and diagnostic which did not go towards the repair cost. He came out , we took the TV down. He opened it up and just looked at it. From this visual, he decided that it was the power pack or a diode. He closed it back up and we remounted the TV. Upon his leaving he said he couldn’t make an accurate diagnosis without getting the schematics and measuring the current flows from each of the items mentioned. He would be in touch with me the next day (Friday) I wound up calling HIM Saturday. He had to be reminded of who I was and why I was calling. At the conclusion of the call he said he would have the schematic and would call me that evening. Monday (Memorial Day) was a holiday and I wound up calling HIM Tuesday. Again, he said he would get back to me that evening to verify he had them. I wound up calling HIM today, Thursday. His says by his judgment, he believes it’s the power pack and the pack would cost $100.00 and the total cost would be $240.00. By my observation he had no real proof of this, so I asked him why he so sure that was the problem, why was the cost so high and if there was a guarantee for his work. These questions caused him to go into a rage. He hollers that he has a shop to run and that costs money. He said he has been in busy for over twenty years and he felt insulted that I questioned that. He said that if the set didn’t work I didn’t have to pay him. I explained to him that the problem with my set begins first thing in the morning. Once I do this in the am, I have no problem for the rest of the day. He would have left with my money by then. He didn’t like me saying that either. He now asks me if I wanted him to work on my set. I asked him if he wanted to work on my set. He then says he didn’t feel as tho I wanted him to do the work. I said I wanted my set fixed. He started to repeat about how long he’s been in business and how I should respect that. I started repeatedly saying “I’m the customer”. He hung up.
