came to our house for a 10-20 min assessment. He said he needed to order a part to repair the TV and said it would take 1-2 weeks for the part to arrive. After 2 weeks, we hadn't heard back from
, so we left him a message. All together, we have left 5+ messages with no reply from
. We paid the assessment fee of $75 with his promise to order the part and return to fix the TV. It has been about 4 weeks since
was at our house and we have not heard back from
and our TV is still broken.

I’ll try to be brief. I found this TV Repair on Angie’s List. I made an appointment for
to come out. He is one of two people who work out of there; as far as I know. I explained to him that I had a 55’ TV and that I have to turn it off and on at least four or five times before the picture comes in clear. He said that he did home visits but he didn’t have any help to remove the set from the wall. I said I would help. He said he charged $85.00 for the visit and diagnostic which did not go towards the repair cost. He came out , we took the TV down. He opened it up and just looked at it. From this visual, he decided that it was the power pack or a diode. He closed it back up and we remounted the TV. Upon his leaving he said he couldn’t make an accurate diagnosis without getting the schematics and measuring the current flows from each of the items mentioned. He would be in touch with me the next day (Friday) I wound up calling HIM Saturday. He had to be reminded of who I was and why I was calling. At the conclusion of the call he said he would have the schematic and would call me that evening. Monday (Memorial Day) was a holiday and I wound up calling HIM Tuesday. Again, he said he would get back to me that evening to verify he had them. I wound up calling HIM today, Thursday. His says by his judgment, he believes it’s the power pack and the pack would cost $100.00 and the total cost would be $240.00. By my observation he had no real proof of this, so I asked him why he so sure that was the problem, why was the cost so high and if there was a guarantee for his work. These questions caused him to go into a rage. He hollers that he has a shop to run and that costs money. He said he has been in busy for over twenty years and he felt insulted that I questioned that. He said that if the set didn’t work I didn’t have to pay him. I explained to him that the problem with my set begins first thing in the morning. Once I do this in the am, I have no problem for the rest of the day. He would have left with my money by then. He didn’t like me saying that either. He now asks me if I wanted him to work on my set. I asked him if he wanted to work on my set. He then says he didn’t feel as tho I wanted him to do the work. I said I wanted my set fixed. He started to repeat about how long he’s been in business and how I should respect that. I started repeatedly saying “I’m the customer”. He hung up.
never really diagnosed the problem with any instruments. There was a choice between two things. A person like
can make nearly a thousand dollars a day and not fix anything. Since he did an improper diagnosis, I feel as tho I should get my money back.

Service was fine but the cost was high. Cost of repair was almost 60% of the cost to purchase a new TV rather than repair the old one.

The technician described the problem in detail, told us the cost to repair it and gave his opinion as to whether to repair the TV or purchase a new one. He recommended we buy a new TV, he explained the pros and cons of

vs. plasma and he suggested several brands to consider. He was friendly, polite, well-informed and honest and his charge for the service seemed reasonable.

drove all the way from Flower Mound to Uptown Dallas for the home call two times. I am pretty good about checking for the best deal, and they were very reasonable. Also, this
Baltimore Television Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
had a similar issue a couple years ago and I had it fixed by Sony. I also called Sony's service and they would have charged about $500 for this. It's not often that I am happy after spending $250, but in this case I am.

He did a good job on the t. V. It took a little while for him to get here, but otherwise we are happy and the t. V works much better. He didn't make a mess, and it didn't take him long to fix it.
