"It went very well overall: I have used other companies in the past, but having recently joined Angie's List I wanted to try it. As had a great reputation I called him on a Thursday morning and left a message about what I needed done and where I lived. He called me back within an hour, and as luck would have it was on the road ...more that day doing estimates. He met me at my house a few hours later. I was impressed with his responsiveness and found him a very down to earth, friendly person. He was knowledgeable about current practices and as his price was in the ball park of what others had charged me in the past I hired him. His equipment was state of the art; all of his men worked hard and got the job done in a time frame that I needed.

has a crew of 3 men plus himself. One man was working in the big tree, others were directing him from the ground, gathering cut branches, mulching them, or working on another tree.

"They did a good job, for what they did, but given how much they charged, I would have liked them to have trimmed the tree back even further than they did. (I wasn't home to supervise the work.) The tree is now away from the house, which was the most important thing, and they raised it so the low-hanging branches are not right above your head like they ...more were before. But it continues to hang above the house, and it will need to be retrimmed in a year, probably, maybe sooner. And they could have raised it a little higher than they did, too. They showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves, and did the minimum required in the contract. But it feels like they did the minimum and charged the maximum."

He also ground the stump and took away all of the debris except for the chips that I asked him to leave behind. Other contractors said stump grinding would be extra and quoted it as a separate job. "
