"I made the appointment to have Vrany come out and give us an estimate to take down an oak that had been dead since before we moved into the" house. It was a tricky location--in the backyard, about a foot from the back of the garage, with power lines in the way and little room to fit equipment. He arrived right on time and walked around the property to give us a thorough outline of the scope of work, how long it would take, etc. He even gave us some advice on some other items (a silver maple that had been planted by the previous owner that was going to become a problem as it grew, how to get rid of some ivy that just wouldn't go away, etc). Very knowledgeable, very personable. The only reason we didn't go with them was because the estimate he gave us was more than the other two estimates we received from other companies combined, even though the scope of work was identical. Overall, if I ever need tree work done again, I will definitely call them for another quote. I trusted that he knew what he was talking about and that they could get the job done. But I'm also going to call other companies to make sure the estimate is reasonable.

" was absolutely excellent from the get-go. He quoted us a price that was half of what others had given. He was courteous and professional" at all times. He was thorough and clearly knew what he was doing. He worked hard to do a complete job and was at house multiple times to complete the work as he said he would, without so much as a grimace. He kept at it in the face of challenges, as was flexible in response to our changing and adding requests. It was a pleasure to work with him and I will be hiring him again in the future.

4 Situations When You Need a Professional Tree Trimmer

Not sure if you should trim your own trees? Sometimes your tree problem is best left to a pro whose is trained in maintenance and other complex issues.

Tree Services - Removal and Trimming

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

?
Unless the contract stated they were to remove the neighbor's portion at the neighbor's expense it's your bill.  You simply stated they were to remove the portion on the neighbor's side also, not who would pay for it by what I'm reading, even if that was your intention.

Another route to take:  Technically you should be able to file a claim with your neighbor's insurance for the damage done by the tree and possibly for the removal of the tree including the portion not affecting you.  They may deny the second part but if they pay for damages in addition to the coverage by your insurance you've been reimbursed.  Don't take more than the $650 and keep all records so you aren't accused of insurance fraud.  Unless the bill was broken into 2 parts stating which amount was for the removal on your side and which side was theirs their insurance probably won't argue much about only paying part of the bill.  Talk to your agent about how to best approach this.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

, the crew manager and the gentleman who cliimbed the silver maple tree and Wilsom showed up for work. It was around 90 degrees and around 3pm so they must have been tired from a long day. did a superb job with the silver maple and and ...More all did a great job with the other trees and they removed all of the mess they made. It was practicallly spotless.
I was particularly impressed because the owner showed up as he was concerned about the job that had to do since there were not secure branches to lean on. in the office was also a pleasure to work with. This was my second time using this company. Very happy with them.

I have been using for years - mostly to trim trees. Their prices are reasonable and they are always prompt, courteous, and professional. They do an excellent job of cleanup and my yard always looks better when they leave than it did when they arrived.

Great - they came on the day they committed to. The team was very professional. They were on time, did a great job, did a great job of cleaning up after themselves, and met my expectations.. A very professional job. I will call them again.

This is the company to hire if you need to remove trees, stumps, trim trees.
Very professional and customer oriented. I did not want heavy equipment in my back yard and this was one reason I hired
them. Another reason was that when they send me the proposal a copy of their liability insurance was attached and, of course, the price was reasonable.
...More /> The first day they sent a crew of three people who did the cutting and removal of the trees manually. They were very efficient and courteous.
After two days another crew of two people came to grind the two stumps and remove the wood chips.
I want to mention Mr. who is the manager. I had called him a few times and he called me back shortly and was very helpful.

Absolutely stellar service on short notice. We needed trees removed and trimmed back before roof work could be commenced on a recently purchased house. , one of the owners of Arbor Master, was straightforward, responsive, and professional. He also recommended qualified people in the area for other work I needed done. I called ...More him on a Friday. He gave me a fair quote and the job was completed by early Saturday afternoon. In my experience it is increasingly rare to find service and professionalism of this caliber.

They haven't done all the work, but I am very pleased with them so far. came out and looked at all the trees on our property and gave us good advice on what we could do and should do. We have needed to put off the work for other reasons and they were straightforward with us about the time frame for the work.
Was on ...More vacation when my sister-in-law, who was staying in the house, called to say that a large branch had fallen and was hanging on another branch over the house and back deck. I called and left a voicemail with to see if they could get out to deal with the branch, and they said they would try. Then I got a message that they would be there the next day (Saturday) to do the work. They got the branch down and trimmed the rest of the tree, even as it was raining with Thunderstorm warnings in the area. even seemed apologetic for not trimming the rest of the trees at the same time because of the weather.
Great guy and great company. I highly recommend them.

I called a few places to get estimates, and offered the better price of the two that showed up.
I called them up and the woman who answered the phone said, “OK, I think I have some spots open this week, let me get the calendar.” Before I could continue that there were some date constraints, she’d put ...More me on hold. When she came back she immediately launched into “OK, I can get you down for either Friday, or Saturday—“ at which point I finally interrupted her and told her that she’d put me on hold too quickly, and I needed a date after 11 (Sat) because we were staging a big party that day. She then booked me for Monday, 13.
On 8th, called me to tell me that they see they have me down for the 13th, but a spot has “opened up” on Saturday the 11th, could they come by then? I told her no, we have a lot of guests coming that day.
10: we got another call from : “I see you’re down for the 13th, but there’s an opening tomorrow if you can accommodate them.” I told them that no, we STILL can’t accommodate them because, as I’d already explained, we had a lot of people coming to the house that day. This time she took the time to write on the estimate that it couldn’t be changed.
The crew arrived at about 10:30 and their chief surveyed the yard to ensure that all the equipment could get to the trees involved. Once they'd done that, they told me that they were going to have lunch before starting work.
The first tree, I'll say, came down very quickly (about 45 minutes) and without any trouble. It was somewhere around this point that we learned that the stumps would not be ground down that day, and that we had to make another appointment to get that done. I've seen other reviewers who have said the same thing, so this is clearly STILL a problem.
It was while taking down the second tree that the trouble started. When the top of the tree was taken off, it went the wrong way and came down on the wires that were strung over my yard. One supplied the cable to my house, and was torn out at both ends; the other was the power line to my neighbors. Fortunately, it wasn't pulled out of the house, but several of the brackets that hold the cable against the house were torn out, her siding was damaged and besides, now we have a power line hanging about three feet over my yard.
I got on the phone to to ask them what their protocol was for this sort of thing. She said she’d have to call the crew chief to see what was up. I went out back and asked where he was, but nobody seemed to know at that moment. When he did turn up a minute later, I told him that the office was supposed to be getting in touch with him. This was the beginning of numerous phone calls, back-and-forthing with the crew and with the office and trying to figure out what needed to be done and who was going to be responsible for it.
At one point in the afternoon, around 4:00 I called to ask when Comcast was supposed to come out and fix the cable. She said she didn’t know; all she knew was that it would be sometime the next day and here’s the work order number if I want to call them myself. What about BGE, for the electrical wire? “Well, it’s not a high-power wire, they can probably fix it on their own…” And, in fact, they did that, putting the brackets back in and re-mounting the cable against the house. They did kind of a half-assed job of it, so the cable is no longer lying flush against the house, but they did something, I guess. They also trimmed a tree in my neighbor's yard that the cable was passing through. In addition, they took the time to trim my neighbor’s hedges for free AND, because she’d asked for the wood from the first tree for her fireplace, they cut that up into smaller, more manageable pieces (still too big for a fireplace but easier to turn into fireplace-ready pieces). So my neighbor did OK by them, I suppose.
In the meantime, my wife is discovering a bunch of other damage they’d done to parts of her garden that we hadn’t expected to see damage on. Our cherry tree, several feet away, had a bunch of its branches broken, and our crape ’s had been split down the middle. The crew chief knocked $100 off the total cost as an apology and against the possibility that the crape would have to be replaced; as he’s writing the bill up he said to me, “Sometimes these guys, they want to work really fast and I have to slow them down because they ’t always do things the right way.” This statement flew directly against my next phone call to the office, which involved me being told that their crews are always concerned with doing things safely. She did not, however, have a reply when I repeated what the crew chief had told me. She did note, however, that they wouldn’t have been in business for as long as they were, with an A+ rating (from whom, she didn’t say).
Pay attention to this, : you ’t keep on being in business by resting on the laurels of the previous work; you keep on being in business by delighting the NEW customers you have so that they’ll come back and give you referrals.
Now, a supervisor came out the next day, and Wife and I toured him around the property, showing him everything that had happened and some of the attitudes we bumped up against. He was (sort of) apologetic and offered to replace the crape if it, in fact, didn’t survive its injuries, and said he’d send out a second crew to fix the power line. The damage happened on Monday; today is Friday and I still haven't seen anyone out here doing the new repair, so do with it what you will.
Now, as I'd noted earlier, I had to make a second appointment to get the tree stumps ground down. This took place about four days after the initial work was done. Somehow I'd gotten it into my head that the appointment was for the morning, so a little after 4PM, when they still hadn't shown, I called in and asked when the crew was supposed to get here. She told me that she'd get in touch with them and that they'd call me and give me some idea. The phone call never happened, but the "crew" (one guy) showed up about an hour later. He had a little trouble with getting his equipment through my gate, but managed to get it done and, considering the amount of chips created, did a decent job of gathering the pieces and raking them into, or at least close to, the original location. So other than the communication issue, there were no problems there.
