Baltimore Small Appliance Repair Reviews

answered the phone when I called. He is the owner and is very personable. I had to change the original date for his visit, and he rescheduled for two days later. He willing to come to the house on a Saturday. He was a very nice guy, very professional, and I would call him again in a second for any of our appliances. He charges an $80 diagnostic fee, but if he can't figure out what his wrong, he won't charge anything. "
"Good experience!

the technician was very knowledgeable, was able to get an appointment within a few days. They called ahead to let me know they were on the way. Overall a good experience for me."
"It was almost an all-day job (at least 4 hours), so the rate for the work and the overall nastiness was very good. we've hired this plumber several times before and he has always been excellent. Most recently, we called to engage him for a leak from our bathroom. Based on a phone call he was able to successfully diagnose the problem (old caulking) and give us successful advice to fix that problem completely gratis."
"I felt that they did a wonderful job on the tv. I was not home at the time but the tv. Is working very good and I would say they did a excellent job by moving everything back."
"The work was done promptly on the day advised, and the serviceman was very polite and efficient. The price charged was within the range charged by another company from whom we had gotten an estimate."
"The garbage disposal was fine, though didn't work entirely properly. They understood and are supposed to come this week to re-fix it. They provided three options for the faucet at a variety of price points. They ordered the parts I needed and are supposed to come back this week to fix it."
"When they arrived at the residence they called me and told me I needed a new garbage disposal and they had one on the truck they could put in; it was 1/3 HP and the price was $395.00. If I wanted a better one; a 3/4 HP the price would be $550. I asked the brand name and while they were on the phone I looked up the models on the computer and saw they could be purchased for $80.00 and $95.00 my cost; a contractor cost is always less. I then asked how long it would take to do and was told approximately 45 minutes; so that equated to approximately $300 - 400.00 dollars an hour labor depending on what model I choose. I expressed my concern of paying that high price and was told that they have a high over head and their price was set; but since I was a returning customer I could get a 10% discount. Now I really do not mind paying a competitive price and I do believe that everyone needs to make a living but $125-$150.00 an hour seems more than reasonable to be paid; taking advantage of a customer is not good business practice. I told them not to do the work and they left. I contacted another plumber; got the job done with a 1/2 HP disposal; the job took 1/2 hour and I paid $225.00 to include the price of the disposal.
Although they were very quick to charge my credit card for the $75.00; they never sent me a bill/statement to the fact and I really did not know it was charged until I received my bill two weeks later; it was then I had to contact them to send me a receipt for the money they charged me.

"The plumber reset our stalled garbage disposal motor. He replaced a worn rub seal in our downstairs toilet that was causing it to run constantly. Finally, he tightened the tank to the toilet which had been leaking for a number of months.
"It was great! We talked to about 4 different companies (with estimates). We hemmed and hawed about doing the entire house AND the service from the street and after looking at the estimates we decided to only do the house re-pipe. As such,

won on price. Their price included the tub/shower faucet and water heater. Other plumbers added these on and they were more expensive-- which I think in the end was the tiping point for us that these things were included and even included was still cheaper than other quotes. I also liked their entire on-boarding process. They have a scheduler/customer contact person (mine was

called me a few days after the estimate to see how the company stood up against the competition. Not only had they printed the estimate on the spot for my husband but they followed up via email as well. I received a text notification asking if I wanted to sign up for their texting program. I appreciate businesses that know what century they are operating in as well as following up to make sure everyone was on the same page. They made sure everyone was on the same page at each step...which can be a challenge since they were communicating with both me and my husband separately at certain times. They were FAST. They kept the rubble from the rest of the house by sealing off the kitchen and dining room. They schlepped the rubble and old water heater away.

arranged for the inspector to come to the house. The work passed inspection.
"This is a very businesslike, polite, and professional group of people. Everyone I dealt with, both by phone and in person, was as polite and cordial as can be.
I needed 3 things done: 1) Replace a leaky shut-off valve in my basement, 2) replace a torn rubber splashguard in my garbage disposal, and 3) check on my dripping Delta kitchen faucet...more /> I was told on the phone, when making the appointment, that there would be a $65.00 service charge for the call if no work were done. I agreed to this.
Upon the arrival of the 2 man crew, I was advised that 1)the shut off valve would be replaced, with a better quality one, for $239.00 2) They would not replace the rubber splashguard in the disposal, and that my best options were to either buy a strainer for the sink instead, or replace the disposal at a cost of $650.00, and 3) my own previous attempts at rebuilding the leaky faucet were similar to what they would do, and they did not recommend trying any further repairs on the existing faucet. I appreciated the honesty about this.
I thought that the $239 price for replacing the valve was quite high, but the plumber explained that this included turning off the water to the house, draining the pipe, and testing it when done. I then thought that maybe the repair involved more than I imagined, and I figured that if they did nothing I would have to pay the $65 fee. With the $25 Angies List discount, it came to $214.00, so I had them replace the valve. It ended up taking under 20 minutes.
I subsequently called another plumber, who replaced the splashguard in the disposal for $65.00.
My "B" grade for quality reflects the fact that they recommended $650 repacement of the disposal as the only fix for the torn splahguard, other than using a strainer.
