Baltimore Small Appliance Repair Reviews
Although they were very quick to charge my credit card for the $75.00; they never sent me a bill/statement to the fact and I really did not know it was charged until I received my bill two weeks later; it was then I had to contact them to send me a receipt for the money they charged me.
I needed 3 things done: 1) Replace a leaky shut-off valve in my basement, 2) replace a torn rubber splashguard in my garbage disposal, and 3) check on my dripping Delta kitchen faucet ...more /> I was told on the phone, when making the appointment, that there would be a $65.00 service charge for the call if no work were done. I agreed to this.
Upon the arrival of the 2 man crew, I was advised that 1)the shut off valve would be replaced, with a better quality one, for $239.00 2) They would not replace the rubber splashguard in the disposal, and that my best options were to either buy a strainer for the sink instead, or replace the disposal at a cost of $650.00, and 3) my own previous attempts at rebuilding the leaky faucet were similar to what they would do, and they did not recommend trying any further repairs on the existing faucet. I appreciated the honesty about this.
I thought that the $239 price for replacing the valve was quite high, but the plumber explained that this included turning off the water to the house, draining the pipe, and testing it when done. I then thought that maybe the repair involved more than I imagined, and I figured that if they did nothing I would have to pay the $65 fee. With the $25 Angies List discount, it came to $214.00, so I had them replace the valve. It ended up taking under 20 minutes.
I subsequently called another plumber, who replaced the splashguard in the disposal for $65.00.
My "B" grade for quality reflects the fact that they recommended $650 repacement of the disposal as the only fix for the torn splahguard, other than using a strainer.
