Plumbing reviews in Baltimore
He found that our freon was low, and charged us $125 per pound to replace it. At the time I did not question my charge although I needed 4 pounds so it was pretty pricey. He did not find the source of the leak (it would be another couple hundred to run that test).
The following week I needed a AC repair on another unit in a rental property that I own and called out a different company, who charged me just $50 per pound AND he found/fixed my leak for free.
Later I posted a review on YELP explaining my dissatisfaction with being charged 2.5 times what another company did for the same exact product (freon). The customer relations guy called me up to ask me if they could get me to change my review on yelp if they came and did more services for free. Tried to explain that they have higher prices because they are a large company. I'm not buying that excuse and did not accept their offer, the bad YELP review stands. It's a long time later and I'm still annoyed when I see their ads on TV, which is why I'm writing this review now.
Would absolutely NEVER recommend a company with this policy of price gouging.
Obviously did not have time to shop around as I didn't have any water in the house. So "
He tried to tell me it was so much because the dimensions of the closet were so small!
Tried to make me feel better by telling me he took A beating on this Job because it took him 8 hours to install.
When I made this appointment, they insisted on 9 AM and in order to do this time I had to rearrange my schedule. At 9:15 I called the company to find out what was going on and they advised they had a customer emergency and would be here by 10. I totally understood. At 10:15 they still hadn't shown up so I called again and they told me they'd be here in 15-20 minutes. In the end, they showed up around 10:30, an hour and half late. I am understanding about the client emergency, but I am not understanding about their lack of proactive communication. They should have called me and I should not have had to call twice for updates.
The 2 plumbers came, surveyed the job, making sure to repeatedly plug their "quality." After surveying the job, I asked them to prepare a written proposal, and they told me they do not give written proposals and if I insisted on one it would be $125, which they would deduct from the contract if I hired them. I have had a lot of contractors in my home, and bid many jobs, and I have never had anyone give me the professionalism quality speech and then ask for a deposit, but not offer a contract? They said they would write up a contract the day of the job. I do not believe it is legal in the state of Maryland to take a deposit on a job without a written contract. And who in the world would hire a contractor without a contract delineating responsibilities, the scope of the job, limitations, and warranty??? Of note, every other contractor who bid this job not only provided a contract up front, but wouldn't think of doing it any other way.
Of 3 other bids I received from other Angie's list 2013 super service providers, they were than 25% higher than the next highest bid. I'm certainly not going to pay a high premium without a written contract. Overall, the bid was not competitive.
Since I did not have any work completed, I cannot comment on their quality. Based on experience I have found that quality and professionalism go hand in hand. When I asked the plumbers if they warranty their work, they were unsure if they do & if they do for how long. Crazy!
I cannot understand how this company has so many positive reviews. Do people really hire contractors without getting a proposal for a job that requires permits, inspection, and a minimum investment of $1500? Again it was ok that they didn't show up on time. It was not ok that I had to do the calling to find out where they were. If you are looking for a contractor on a job that isn't basic such as a toilet install, hire another company as you don't know what you're going to get at
