Interior Design Reviews in Baltimore

His design was spot-on with our taste and style and truly fit the decor of the room. He did a great job listening to what we wanted and advising us on our options. The final results are both gorgeous and functional and truly transformed the room from a bland, small office to a sophisticated library.

I contacted
and we chatted over the phone about what I was looking for. I had seen her work on Pinterest and I shared my own pin boards with her so we could start talking about the style of the decor I want....more /> She came for a consultation and she measured all the space and asked me questions about our preferences. She came back a week later with a presentation that she showed me on her iPad, and later emailed to me as a PDF file. She had gotten the style that we wanted and presented furniture and lighting options that we like. On the last page of the presentation was a list of specific carpets, sofa, chairs, tables, light fixtures, curtains and even suggested art, along with and the artist's name and the stores with prices. (I had given her a rough budget to help her choose pieces at the appropriate pricepoint)
The demonstration showed the layout from different
, so you could get a good sense of how it would look. (If you watch some of the decorating shows on cable television, this was very similar to what you might see there)
Having this floorplan was exactly what I needed. It gave us a sense of the proportions of new furniture and it helped us select and purchase things for our homes.
One of the advantages of
's business model is that she charges for the amount of time she works. As a designer she gets a discount from many retailers, and she passes that discount along to her clients. So, for example, I wanted to hang curtains right away and I liked what she chose so I had her order them for me and I got about 10% off on that order.
Now, we didn't end up buy exactly every thing she recommended from the stores she recommended because we went to each store and checked it out in person. For example, sofas are very personal and we didn't find her recommendation comfortable. We just found another one that WAS comfortable. Since we had settled on the size and type of fabric already, it made shopping SO MUCH EASIER. My husband and I no longer hemmed and hawed, we were focused. So far, we have chosen several items different form her recommendation, but in each case I called her first and asked her opinion. In those cases where we opted not to follow her advice, it was still helpful because we felt sure we had considered all options before making these decisions.
Without some expert advice, I would have taken years to furnish our new home and I would have surely made expensive mistakes. I feel more confident tackling this task, knowing I have
to consult. Her services are well worth the expense. I feel like we will wind up with a home that is perfect for our needs and our tastes. Thumbs up!!

Please do NOT use
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
and Associates, Inc. We gave her $15,000 to select furniture for our apartment only to never receive the furniture and get a string of excuses and run around by her in the process. It has been over 2 years since the actual deal was agreed upon and we have yet to see any furniture. Any response we have gotten from her has been another excuse or no response all together. We have given up on getting any furniture or any money back but we will not give up on warning people to not use her. Please, we beg you, do NOT use this company. The only reason we are writing this review is that we want to try to prevent this happening to anybody else now or in the future. Do not listen to her manipulations, excuses, or her statements about how she can get you a deal. Google her name, google her company, run a legal

Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
is really wonderful. She is warm and open and full of ideas. She made several on the spot drawings to show me how she thought the space could be used (she did this for the family room and for the living room).
I have a very hard time with colors and
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
was patient and supportive.
I will be shopping for furniture using her drawings as guidance. I would have used her for more services but I have a tight budget. Interior design work is expensive!
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
charges what seems to be the industry standard. The added value is that she is willing to come and just do bits and pieces of the job, as one's budget will allow.

My husband and I wanted to redo our powder room and the guest bathroom, both of which have fixtures and floors from the 1950's when the house was built. But we did not want to put a lot of money or time into the renovations because we will probably be selling the house in a couple of years.

suggested changes to each of the bathrooms that made them both look chic and modern. She selected and had installed a new vanity, sink, shower head , mirror and overhead lights in one and a new tile floor, light, medicine chest in the other. The work began when all the new items were delivered and was done quickly without any mess. When the work was completed, the house was as clean as when it began.

yard to select new granite that matched the previously purchased, because we needed more granite and soapstone for the newly configured spaces. I wound up selecting my own dealer to get a few more cabinets for the room, since she did not have a vendor with a great price for cabinets. It's nice to work with someone who charges just on the basis of her hourly time. If she can buy something herself and get a discount, she does pass it on. Sandy knew a wonderful supplier of aged wood planks to use for flooring in the butler's pantry who was more reasonably priced than anything we could find on the internet.
I've worked with Sandy many times before--on a kitchen remodel in our previous home, two bathroom remodels, and the decoration of a living room, dining room, and bedroom. She is a real pro--one of the most warm and helpful decorators in Baltimore.

I began working with
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
in April or May 2013. I went into the shop to meet the design team and owners. There were three employees in the store and while I was the only customer at the time, I had to ask for help. I explained that I wanted to re-do the window treatments and chairs in my dining room. I had a few ideas and wanted to look at fabrics. I was sent upstairs where the fabric books were kept and a few books were found for me that matched the color criteria I gave them. Then I was left alone. I had to go downstairs to again ask for assistance. Finally, there were a few fabrics I wanted to have swatches of so I could check how they would look at home. That required an "order" which, in turn, initiated a pile of paperwork and me filling out nearly as much information as one would give a doctor! In addition, they insisted that I provide credit card information although the swatches of fabric were free.
I had to call twice to find out where my swatches were. Neither time did anyone know who I was, despite having given them all that information. In retrospect, I should have stopped there and found someone else.
But I made an order and when I did, I was required to pay for all of the fabric, the work, the installation and the taxes upfront. I have had custom-made window coverings, bedding, and pillows made many times in the past 20 years and have only a down payment has been requested.

never provided a project plan, an expected completion date, or a person to contact. Whenever I wanted to know what the status was or had a question, I had to call and could never--not once--be connected with

(the owners). I could only leave my question with the receptionist (

Two months went by before I could get a seamstress out to do the needed measurements. Note that I had already paid for 9 yards of fabric before any actual measurements were taken. As it turned out, they had ordered 3 full yards too many, at $58.00 per yard.
When I called and e-mailed to ask about this, I was told that I could bring the excess fabric into the store where they would check to see that there were, indeed, three yards left over. When I complained that it did not seem reasonable for me to have to come into the store for them to fix their mistake, I was told I could ship the material back to if that would somehow be less inconvenient for me to accomplish. In any case, they would have to check the unused, unneeded fabric and call the seamstress who they claimed was the source of the error before issuing any refund.
This made me pretty upset. The actual work done on the window treatments was outsourced to an independent seamstress (

That is when I decided to simply forget all of this and write a review on Angie's List.

Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
went through each room with us and gave us
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
suggestions to make our home look its best for purposes of selling it. She gave advice on furniture rearranging,

DIY projects, and other cost conscious improvements (along with contractor recommendations based on her personal experience). We employed all of her suggestions. Once we listed our house for sale, we were under contract in 7 days!

I was apprehensive about hiring an interior designer, but it was the best money I could have spent.
Baltimore Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
was absolutely wonderful. She understood my concerns about budget and all of the ideas she gave us were more than affordable. She also gave us a few recommendations for paint color and design for our living room that would allow us to be as creative or conservative as we would want. She seemed to have a good understanding of our style and I did not get any indication she was putting personal preference ahead of what we wanted. I can't wait to keep working with

in the future.

was very nice. It was no fault of hers, but she wasn't what I was looking for. I should have been more specific in what I was looking for. I was looking for someone who would come in and basically redesign my entire kitchen and give me ideas for the living room including furniture, painting, light fixtures, etc.
