" did an outstanding job. He is very knowledgeable about glass shower doors. His initial presentation was extremely thorough. He helped us" choose the appropriate size shower doors and hardware best suited for our tiny master bath. Price was very fair. It looks fabulous. It's been almost a month now since the glass enclosure was installed and we are very happy that we decided to go with Kitchens.

"GREAT!!!! When water damage appeared on the ceiling of our den, below our second floor main bathroom, we used Angie's list to fix the leak. The grout" mechanic found one leak behind the shower's water control and also replaced all the old caulking. After the caulking dried we ran the shower only to find out that there was still a leak present. At this point we went back to Angie's list to seek a technician/mechanic who dealt with shower doors (recommended by the grout mechanic). Even though & Mirror showed a , PA address, my wife's intuition kicked in and she called . She got on the phone and explained our demise. explained that not only does he do a good bit of work in the Baltimore area but on Wednesday (a couple of days away) he will be doing a job at a location about four (4) miles from our house. told my wife that he would stop over after completing his initial job, take a look at the situation and provide us with an estimate. said he would not charge us for this initial visit. was both prompt, called as he was leaving his initial job, looked at the shower enclosure, tentatively identified what he thought the problem was and provided us an estimate. My wife felt quite good with . made us understand that he would take portions of the shower enclosure off to look for where a leak was causing the ceiling damage. could not guarantee what he would find but my wife felt that we, at least, needed to try. was early for his appointment, better than late, found a small hole under the front door of the enclosure sealed the hole and put everything back together in a little over an hour. 's charge--exactly his estimate. So far, the leak is fixed. In a home that is over 20 yrs. old things can go south quickly. Should we begin having problems once again with this enclosure left us a brochure depicting numerous enclosures we could purchase should the need arise. Should the need arise for a new shower enclosure, we definitely will be going back to .

From what I can see in a picture of the item, there does not appear to be anything special about the glass. unless it has an Ikea emplem on it or special etching or something, any normal window glass replacement company like Speedy Glass or such should be able to cut and install replacement glass - probably about $100-300 depending on whether a pane or entire door-sized panel of glass, depending on which style you have.
?
Just about every sliding door I have installed is put in in sections. If it is a brand name you may be able to purchase a replacement panel from a lumber yard or call a glass company to replace just the glass. I have seen some windows and doors that have a "welded" plastic frame that is next to impossible to replace just the glass. I hate to give estimated costs on labor or material since they very by manufacturer and regional prices but I would think you are in the $250-350 range in labor plus cost of glass or panel.
?

Could be held on with concealed mirror fasteners (usually a clip or notched "button" design, with very litle showing outside the mirror, or none showing if has trim around it, or with large dabs or swipes of mirror adhesive or liquid nails. The former leaves minimal damage when removed - no more than a heavy duty picture hanger, the latter leaves divots in drywall, as you surmised, and holes in the drywall if a piece of plywood is not used as a prypoint when prying it off.

If you want to try to save the mirrors, then a glass and mirror installer is needed - they can remove them from the hangers, or cut the adhesive with wire saw - though that will add probably 2-3 hours labor per room. Then you would need a painter who also does minor drywall repairs.

If not saving the mirrors, then I suspect you could get a Handyman to pop them off, repair the divots, and repaint. Otherwise, a Painter would probably be glad to do it and repair the damage and repaint - just be prepared for a hefty charge for duct tape - like $100-200, because that is the best way to do this - duct tape the surface completely, pry the mirrors off (commonly breaking them), then cut through the tape to make pieces of glass manageable and of a size to fit in garbage can or box for hauling out. Be sure to emphasize PLYWOOD protection for floors, overlain by canvas or plastic, when removing the mirrors - drop a good sized piece and you have significant flooring damage.

Here is a prior response for a similar situation, including the same suggestions about removal, but also a bunch of ideas of how to leave the mirrors and cover or integrate them - which can be a LOT cheaper than paying a two-man crew for a day to remove mirrors, depending on solution you choose.

 http://answers.angieslist.com/Need-rid-wall-mirrors--q67621.aspx

this is probably a quarter to full days job to remove depending on how fastened and if saving or not, so about $200-800 range. Drywall repair and painting probably about another $150-250 range, so ballpark numbers - pushing $300-400 if mirrors come off easy (bracketed) or can be scrapped, more like a thousand $ if saving mirrors.

Hello, this is Kyle K from the Member Care Department.

Your Search the List category is Glass and Mirrors - the Speedy Glass type company that does home and auto glass replacement.

If the glass is held in with window putty (a doughy tan or white putty) or by a wood trim piece all around it pinching it in place, then you can probably fix it yourself for about $15 piece of glass at a glass replacement place or somehome improvement/lumberyards.

If the glass is multiple-pane, or encased in a metal frame, then not easy to do yourself, though in some situations with single-pane you could remove the glass mounting frame entirely, use larger glass, and install with window putty. Double or triple pane you need then to fabricate a new "glazing unit" for you - the glass layers all enclosed in the metal encasing unit.If you are going to pay for that, might as well have them put it in too.

The contractor provided the lowest quote out of 5 contractors but I decided to go with another contractor that had a better suggestion of the design and install of the glass doors and window in the shower. The contractor was prompt with providing a quote for the job.

Ordering the window was easy. They had to come out to see what needed replacement and to take measurements. About 6 weeks later, they came out to actually install the new window. The installers were on time (within the window of 8am-noon), polite and efficient, and cleaned not only the new window, but its old partner as well. I'm very happy ...More with the cloud-free window!

To start things off the salesman, a Mr House, shows up over an hour late, he did call but not until he was already 15 minutes behind. Upon his arrival I showed him to the bath being remodeled and explained what I wanted, Mr. replied with "We're not going to do that. This is what we're going ...More to do". He then proceeded to inform me that the style of floor (Paper) (Yes paper, look it up on you tube) and type of window (Glass block) and shower enclosure (Fiberglass , tile walls, glass door) I wanted would be unacceptable. His people would do tile floors, a standard tub, ( I wanted a shower enclosure only ) and a standard double hung window. He then spouts off some line about how building codes requiring this type of installation. What a load of dung. The only code that applies to this bath is the installation of an exhaust fan, which I specifically included because I was having the only window ( In the shower stall ) closed off with glass block.
I agreed to consider an estimate with tile floors but required the shower "only" stall and glass block window. Weeks have now passed and Mr. House has never contacted me again. No estimate, no phone call explaining they wouldn't be able to do the job, no follow up, nothing.
How the heck can a company do business like this? I don't want or need a salesman to tell me what they think I want, I know what I want. It's up to the company to make that a reality.
's work may or may not be good, I don't know. What I do know is that my impression was that of a company looking to do quick in and out work with the simplest and most basic styles and materials.
I would not recommend this company to anybody looking for work above builder grade.

The came in and completed in one day what took others weeks. Laid tile, put up dry wall, replaced broken glass, they were just good at everything. After submitting this report I am going to hire them again. I'd recommend them to my friends.

Fortunately we aren't in a rush for a small job such as replacing a small double pane window, and it is for this reason I couldn't justify myself or my wife having to take off time from work a couple of times (one for estimate and one for installation). The kicker is, doesn't work on weekends and they don't ...More do appointments after 3:00 pm during the week! Can't say that I've ever come across a business with those hours. The shame is, my wife literally gets home at 3 every day. This has been a blessing on many occasions when we've needed work done with various businesses throughout the years. I relayed this information but I guess it wasn't possible for someone to come to our house at 3:00 and take what I imagine would be 10 minutes to price out a single 20" x 30" window. Anyway, responses I received were timely and the pre-estimate estimate (guessed on the size) seemed reasonable. Aside from those things, I would say that we simply couldn't do business because of the business hour time constraints.

They were very quick and very flexible in accommodating to my schedule for the installation. I was very pleased the glass came in less than a week after I placed the order. They called me the morning the glass was ready and came over that same afternoon to do the repair! Highly recommend them!

From the first call to to the installation it was completely easy and professional. They came on time, gave me the price to replace the window and the price to put in a temporary window, if I wanted it. They had to order my window and let me know when it should come in. They called to set up an installation time and once again ...More were on time and professional. Everyone I dealt with treated me with respect and professionalism. Very friendly, neat and easy to deal with. I would definitely hire them again and I highly recommend them.

The technician was very professional, polite, and took his time to make sure the caulking around each glass was applied evenly. After the installation he carefully cleaned up the area, and suggested I go over the area with a vacuum cleaner to make sure all the bits of glass were removed from the carpet. He did a fantastic job! I was (am) very pleased ...More with the results! I would definitely recommend and would use them in the future!
