Firewood Service Reviews in Baltimore

I called to get pricing on getting a 1/4 cord delivered to my house. He told me that he was a little low on wood, but even if he wasn't, he wouldn't deliver that small of an amount to me, even if I paid a delivery charge. His exact words: "It's not worth it". He told me if I had a pickup, I could come get that much, but at that point I wouldn't have even if I did have access to a pickup. He was so unprofessional, so coarse and unfriendly, I just didn't want anything to do with him.

is super nice! Professional, on time, responsive and fair. I took his business card and am hoping we will be able to use his landscaping services in the not too distant future.

Firewood Service reviews in Baltimore

Unreliable. Scheduled a weekday appointment assuming that most deliveries are on the weekends. Took off from work to be at home during scheduled delivery time. Received a call at the scheduled delivery time that driver had not returned from previous delivery and was over an hour behind. Rescheduled for the next day with confirmed appointment for 10:00 a.m. Was informed that the driver had left for another delivery, but "the truck was loaded". After I burned hours at home during the workday, Mr.

Only use if you can afford to sit at home by the phone in hopes that he will show up at some point.

He got it to us the evening of the day we made the order. My husband and I were out when he arrived and he worked with my teenage sons to unload. It is tricky unloading past our gate which we needed to secure but he did a great job doing so. My boys enjoyed working and learning from him. He doesn't use a cell phone so it is best to either call in the evening or leave a message during the day. He was great about getting back to us. Wood was seasoned hardwood and cut into good size for both our

was great! He was a little late, but 6pm on. a Friday night in Baltimore - to be expected! Very responsive - called and had the wood the same week. Lit fire the first night - wood seems good. I may use his landscaping services this spring! Very professional and personable.

All went very well. I called on Thursday, and they came on Friday at the exact time they said they would. I had 2 cords (actually it seemed like more then 2 cords) dumped. They said it is all oak and split since January. Everyone was very nice to deal with. I would have paid more to have it stacked, but they said this was their busy time, and they didn't have time to stack it, just dump only. They started burning the wood this weekend, and it burns well, even length.

This is one of the few companies that was willing to deliver in the city to a location where they could not dump the wood on my property. I called at least 10 that sounded confused that I would even ask for the wood to be dropped in the

. The person that delivered the wood gave me a bit of a hard time for not paying to have it stacked, though I have may have over-interpreted his "but you're a girl" type comments. In the end I was just pleased to have a good stack of wood for the winter. As I stacked the wood later, I realized that there were a fair number of very large (more than 24" wide), very flat pieces of wood that looked to be slices from the base of large trees. These would not fit in my wood

. When I called to complain, the company rep said that they add extra wood for this reason AND that many people ask for this wood. I am dubious about this. I split what I could and ended up burning the rest with the wood

Reliable, friendly and punctual. Called Friday pm with delivery Saturday am. Dumped at two different houses at no extra charge.

I called

on Friday after five and ordered 1/2 a cord of firewood. He said it would be delivered the next day by 10am. At 10:05 am he was coming down the driveway. Great company to deal with.

I am very pleased overall and I will call them again when I need firewood. I would like to summarize the PROS and the CONS. Of note I am typically very critical, take that into account.

1. The actual guys (2) who brought and stacked the firewood were outstanding. One of them, who I really interacted and seemed to be the more senior of the 2 (

) was awesome. I find that even when reputable companies with a fairly good front office provide service, the lower level guys, who actually come to your house can be a "hit and miss", with some that you would not trust at all. I appreciate when the actual laborer gives you the impression they know what they are doing and you can trust them. This certainly was the case here and these guys I would hire myself if I was in a business like this.
2. They said they would come Sunday, they did, they delivered. They called me back a few times. At one point in the communications I felt frustrated and thought it was a waste of my time, but then they called me back and made it happen. I was particularly happy, as I ran out of firewood just that morning, so I was perfectly fine.
3. I was hesitating where I should put the wood quality. Finally I decided to put it among the "PROS", after I actually burnt some tonight. At first I was hesitant to make the call, because the wood quality was their top selling point ("95% hardwood") and when I looked, it was certainly less dry than the load I just finished, cut in very long pieces (doesn't fit into my smaller

, whereas the previous load was actually very small cut), and I wasn't convinced about the 95% either. However, it is a mix, I can sort the smallest pieces to go to my secondary wood burning

(which is actually pretty small), it is not wet (burning nicely as we speak), and after all, all the pieces I just brought in seem to be hardwood (if this 12 piece set is representative...). So the quality is actually good and should be a PRO.
4. Price. Definitely a PRO. Out agreement was initially $475, but they asked an extra $25 b/c some car parked in front of my house and when they gave me the estimate they assumed it would be clear. But even at $500, it is an incredible price (for a truckload of good quality firewood, stacked up -by 2 guys working more than 1/2 of Sunday, with delivery.
5. Overall, even though I would have appreciated email (as explained below), I am putting their communication to the PROS list.
Baltimore Firewood Providers Provider Name Locked
called me multiple times and was on top of things and I appreciate that. I certainly felt like there was personalized attention.
1. No email communication.
2. Receipt was rather low tech.
3. I have to say that I was getting frustrated during the process of their trying to figure out what it takes for them to stack. We were going through Google Maps (satellite), while I was trying to explain my yard, but then they went off line and looking at off line images of the wrong house wasn't helping me explain the situation. Actually, while I generally appreciate thoroughness, I would have been fine with whatever their higher estimate was, to move on, as spending 1/2 hour on the phone, apparently accomplishing nothing, wasn't my idea of spend my time. That's when I felt I was just going to drop the whole thing, but they called me back later and verified that they found my house and got the picture. Again, this could have been done by 2 emails, in which I provide the link to my house on Google Maps and whatever question they have could have been easily handled by email.
4. The fact they asked for extra $ is not exactly professional, although not a big deal, really. Again, if they told me $550 to start, instead of the $475 that had to be upped post-fact, I would have been fine. Again, this is not a big deal, because even then I came out much better than expected.
