honored the terms of the warranty (that I had other suppliers, including another

store balk at) for the brand new tires installed by the dealer who sold me the car. The terms of the installation included lifetime balance and rotation. Their price for the new top of the line

tires was highly competitive, and I received a very fair amount on the trade in. They kept their word on everything, and had the work done in a reasonable amount of time.

at the

store was terrific, only weak link was getting the other employee to get me checked out, he took forever, slow and unsure of himself. BUT they get flying aces for the important stuff.

"OVERCHARGES the "AutoChallenged," (in particular, females). Luckily, my fiance knows a little about cars and realized this. Otherwise, we would've paid them $680 to correct the Inspection Failures! Her quote: $80 to replace and "install" the wipers. (I did it myself for $30 with top of the line wipers, in less than 5 minutes!) $120 to remove window tint of front 2 windows. (Paid a tint specialist $40.) $480 to replace and install 2 rotors. (Paid $180 at a different shop!)

charged over $400 more! When she returned to
Baltimore Tire Shops Provider Name Locked
after it was all fixed, she sat in the waiting room for 2 hours for them to re-inspect 3 things (window tint removed?, wipers replaced?, rotors replaced?) It shouldn't have taken more than 30 minutes. I suspect it was purposeful, because they were a little peeved that she went elsewhere to have the work done. DO NOT GO TO THERE!! We never will again.

"We haven't used them recently, but we use them all the time and that's who we go to all the time. They are reasonably priced. We go for all kind of auto service. We think that they are just superb. They are honest and when they say they are going to have the work done, the work is done. When they say it's going to cost so much money then that's what it is. There is no overcharging and doesn't come in over the amount of money that they say. They are great. We would use them in the future as well."

"I have to admit, I was skeptical. I am usually suspicious of national chain/franchises where managers often have quotas and what seems like a "deal" is often a "bait and switch." I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tires I got on a 4 for the price of 3 deal. As advertised, there were no

costs (tire stems, balancing, old tire removal fees, etc). They were open on labor day and did the work quickly and professionally. I was so please I asked them to go ahead and do the routine maintenance I needed--oil change and tune up. All very reasonably priced."

"This was our first time using Merchant Tire and we only went there because I had a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation. During the oil change, the technician disconnected the air intake hose and did not connect it back properly. A day after the oil change we noticed the car making a noise and then a malfunction light came on. We took the car back in and we did not know the cause of the problem. The manager had the technician take a look, but the manager was adamant that the oil change wouldn't cause the engine light to come on. The technician did not find the problem and failed to notice the disconnected airhose. The manager suggested we have a diagnostic test performed, but we would have to pay for it. The manager did not do a very good job of listening to us or looking into the problem. He had the attitude from the start that problems happen with cars all the time and that the timing was coincidental. I mentioned from the start that my wife had experienced a similar sounding problem with a previous car and it had something to do with the airhose or filter. We weren't going to pay for a diagnostic test when we were quite certain that the shop had caused the problem and the manager was so rude. We took the car to our local mechanic and explained the situation, they found the disconnected airhose pretty quickly. We contacted

again and they eventually agreed to refund us the money that we spent to have our local mechanic look into the problem. We brought the receipt from the local mechanic and the manager at Merchant Tire actually complained about how much we spent even though what we spent was less than what he was going to charge us for the same diagnostic test. He was simply not customer oriented. After providing the receipt he said he would submit it to

headquarters and they would send us a check. I checked in with the manager after a couple of weeks and he said to call back in 2 more weeks if we didn't receive anything. I waited longer than 2 weeks, but we never received a check from headquarters. The problem was finally resolved when I went by one day and explained the problem to one of their other managers on duty. He refunded the money that we spent and was quite polite about it, which was far different from the main manager that we had been dealing with. Our big problem was with the manager; he was always rude or defensive and didn't take responsibility for causing the problem. The two other people we dealt with were nice and concerned about correcting the problem. With all of this behind us, I think they should've refunded the cost of the oil change, because it was definitely an inconvenience. The whole process from first visit until the final reimbursement took well over 2 months. I wouldn't consider going back to them simply because of the way the manager treated us.

"They are open on Sundays which is really unusual. The man I worked with was one of the owners, he is very contentious, thorough and realistic, he doesn't try to talk you into a whole bunch of expensive stuff."

"I have been using their services for the last five years now. I like that they have good quality work. They offer affordable prices. They do the work in a reasonable amount of time. They will always call us if there is additional work that needs to be done."

"I have used this company for seven years. I have used them so long because they are honest. They provide "cost containment" when it comes to car maintenance. They offer a variety of services. I have them on my speed dial."

"It was recommended by one of my friends. They made the appointment the following day and my car was ready for me when they said it would be. They gave me an estimate for the repairs. They were very professional. Nothing was done to the car that they did not get approval for. They explained everything they did to the car."

"I have used
Baltimore Tire Shops Provider Name Locked
for about a year now. They have been honest and strait-forward with me each time I have used them. I took my car in at 9:10 and was informed my '97 Subaru would not be ready until around lunch. I sat in the lobby and read my book until I went to get my daughter from school. We went next door to Zorba's for pizza and the car was finished when we got back."
