" is afraid to go under a house or stick his hand into a dark hole. I would not trust reports that involve foundation or pier inspection unless he has an assistant who went into a crawl space for him. is long on opinion and short on accuracy. He takes advantage of homeowners who don't know any better, but to contractors and actual builders, he comes across as a hack. There is a reason he doesn't build anymore or hasn't in 20 years. I don't doubt his qualifications, but just like real estate agents, attendance classes can certify just about anything.
He might be a decent third party inspector, and can be helpful in that position to framers or GC's, but if you are a homeowner, be careful. He will create issues to add hours and drive alleged problems that create fees for himself. Acronyms don't make you smart. He has spent so much time around lawyers, he fancies himself on the same ground. This will only cost you money as a homeowner especially if you are uninformed around construction.
I do not recommend this person or his services. He has a gift of , but is all it is. I wouldn't bank on him in court, or as expert witness testimony, because the actual master professional (plumber, HVAC, electrician, truss engineer, PE, etc) will shred this guy on the stand and you will watch your $$$ disappear. Every time he is faced with the actual master expert he backs down from plumber, to structural engineer, to master electrician, to master plumber to even a deck builder. It's a bully mentality of exploiting those that don't know as though they are weak on the ICC code.
There is a reason why he wears mirror'd glasses too."

" started his inspection in an unfinished basement type part of the property that could be used for one of the additional rental units. From there one could see the major structural components of the building. pointed out the major sloping floor, the water damage and the shifting of a wall, the do-it-yourself corrections to the piers and stopped the inspection. He turned to me and said: "I've already seen enough to tell you that you shouldn't buy this house. Have you seen enough?" He wasn't kidding. Despite my questions and my emotional desire to buy what I thought would be a fun house, he made me listen to reason. He spent several more minutes carefully explaining what these problems meant and how much it would take to correct them. We never even walked into the main house. We never even glanced at the roof.
He charged me an hour for his time and saved me from buying a house that I would have never been able to make habitable without spending a fortune. More importantly, I would have trouble selling the house in the future without addressing all these basic and expensive problems.
This is the type of guy you want to look out for your interests. I decided that he would be my inspector on any home I bought in the area. Building inspectors, as I understand it, will scare you to death with their findings. tells you what you need to hear, whatever he sees that might need attention but he also cares enough to talk some sense to an emotion-clouded customer.
This guy is worth every penny!"

"We are purchasing a foreclosure and buying "as is." As far as appearances, it looks like it's in great shape. But looks can be deceiving, especially with an older home. So, we want to make sure that we know what we are getting into and are ready. After looking over angie's list, and going to his VERY informative website, we decided to go with . The bank had already determined that they were turning on the electricity ... 2 days after accepting our offer!! So, with only two days notice, was able to get us scheduled. He was prompt and professional. Very approachable. He went through every nook and cranny and braved the cold weather to check the outside as well. All the time, explaining the issues that he was finding... and fixes (well, the outside stuff he explained once he got back in the warmth of the house). He told us what needed immediate attention and what could be placed a little lower on the priority list. Since he is a builder, we felt very confident in his know-how. He even gave us his advice on a structural issue as well. He never solicited any other services to us other than calling him anytime we had any questions about his findings and report. He took lots of pictures and best of all... he accepted an American Express card as a form of payment!! ;-)"

" communicated with the buyer prior to the inspection. He showed up on time. He took his time and made sure to inspect everything. He even stayed 30 minutes with the buyer to go over the inspection in detail. My buyers were impressed by his expertise and that he was able to answer their questions."

" arrived punctually, walked my clients through the home and explained the major points of concern. He was able to answer any questions we had to the best of his knowledge. After the inspection we received a very thorough report with clear pictures of the home and any issues associated with it."

"Excellent. I highly recommend for home . He inspected 2 resale homes for us. He's a nice guy and he is extremely thorough when inspecting a house. doesn't miss a thing! is very easy to talk to (and while I don't like to bother contractors while they are doing their job), and is very approachable. During the inspection spent the time to point out issues, discuss remedies, and answer our questions.
We have bought and sold houses before so we are familiar with a typical inspection report. Simply said, we were wow'd by 's report. It's incredible! The reports he compiles are so thorough, so clear and detailed! Each item/issue is annotated with many photographs, making for easy reference. The report is invaluable. It helped us avoid buying a home where (while the house looked nice) basic maintenance was neglected. And, for the house we did buy, we will be sure to utilize the report for a routine maintenance guide.
is gracious to note that if we have any questions in the future...give him a call.
I highly recommend for house inspection. If we are ever purchase another home we will use 's services."

"I called based on other Angie's List feedback and he certainly did not disappoint. We asked him to inspect a 3/2 1311 square foot home in South that we are considering purchasing. 's report was 12 pages without photos and 53 pages with them. He took nearly 200 photos in all and caught things that we didn't even think to look for.
When I compare his report to the one that the home-seller provided to us (which cost her more than charged) it's really amazing how much stuff was overlooked (or missed completely) by the other guy. I feel that 's extremely thorough report has put us in a position to renegotiate the purchase price down to a more comfortable level.
In terms of his professional behavior, had already completed most of the report (and showed his draft to me) they day before we were supposed to meet. When we got there, he showed me everything that he had found in detail and explained why it was a potential issue and what kind of stuff might need to be done to remedy it. He even took off his shoes when he was inside the house so he wouldn't track mud.
Never once did he pressure or attempt to persuade us to go with a " " of his like some inspectors have done in the past.
Really, I can't recommend this guy enough! If you're buying a new home in I don't think you can get a report as comprehensive as his."

"We wouldn?t think of using anyone else to do a home inspection. Not only did impress us with the thorough inspection he did of our property, but he also took the time to explain and educate us about caring for our home. Because we purchased an older home, his report has been a valuable resource in helping us prioritize those areas that need our attention. We refer to it often. His knowledge in the field of construction, green building and energy conservation is remarkable, and his professionalism and kindness is much appreciated. We recommend his services without reservation."

"Bill was great. This is the 2nd inspection I've ever experienced and definitely the best. He showed up a couple of minutes early (which I really appreciate), took time to explain everything to me, and produced the report before when he said he would have it. He even produced a slideshow on the spot and walked through everything he had found and all recommendations. Very knowledgeable and you can't beat the service."

"Job went very smoothly. Owner started the inspection on his own and was ready to give us a run-down when we arrived at the agreed time. His inspection was extremely detailed and rigorous, though he was also careful to note the issues he couldn't comment on due issues such as access. Although the house passed all major issues, he did point out many small imperfections and provided advice on how they might be dealt with. He was patient with all our questions and very pleasant to deal with."
