Austin Gas Leak Repairs Reviews

"Absolutely one of the best experiences I have had with a service provider. My water heater pilot light blew out -- of course on a Sunday!! Gas was leaking so I was very concerned. This has happened with this water heater several times before. I immediately started calling providers on Angie's List. All of them had recordings requesting a callback number (again, it was a Sunday) so I figured whomever called back first, etc. Meanwhile my neighbor, an electrician, was nearby and he shut off the gas for me (so it was no longer an emergency). He also recommended 2 plumbers and gave me their phone numbers.

Several people called back but were not helpful or friendly and some even had voicemail that said, "Call back during business hours." Since it was still an emergency gas leak when I placed these calls, I was not impressed. The owner of

, Mr.

B. (apologies, need to retrieve his last name) called back (he was I believe the 2nd or 3rd caller) and he was very courteous, said his employee would call me right away, which he did. That gentleman,

, discussed my current water heater, which I bought in 2003, but had had to repair 5 or 6 times.

acknowledged that particular unit had problems with which he was very familiar, he did NOT pressure me to buy a new unit but when I asked, he said yes, they could sell me one and install it. I had had such bad experiences before (see other reports) that I was ready for a new unit.

(the owner) had told me to call back at 7 am (!) and he would be there and give me a quote. It was quite reasonable (given today's prices!) and when he asked me how I'd heard of them, I told him, Angie's List and at that time remembered the coupon; he agreed they would be glad to honor it.

and his assistant met me during my lunch hour the next day. My water heater is on a side porch so they were able to access it without my having to stay at the house. They started work immediately and explained the small amount of extra work that was going to be involved. I came home to a beautiful new water heater and as soon as I turned on the faucet, it shot out a little air (which

had assured me was normal and necessary) then -- amazingly hot, great water!! I realized how bad my old water heater was because I had never gotten water that hot since I bought my house in 2002!!! A beautiful job, it looks great, takes up less space than my old one with the same capacity.

The warranty info, etc. was in a plastic

on the side of the water heater (I that took off and saved it). The next morning

, at the office, called me with my invoice amount, offering to take payment over the phone or mail me an invoice and have me send a check. I called her back right away and we took care of things. She also applied the coupon to the originally quoted amount when I remembered to mention it which was great.

Overall this was a GREAT experience and I highly recommend this company to anyone with any plumbing issues. They are very knowledgeable, and for me, courtesy and professionalism (which every one of these people demonstrated to a great degree) is a major factor for me in choosing a provider. Can't say enough. Great people, great service. Definitely call them.
"We had a report of a gas leak when we were away from the house. Found All-State on Angie's list, called them and they came out that day. Very responsive and very professional."
"B J was punctual and quickly found the problem and fixed the issues. He gave me pointers so it would not happen again. He also fixed a small gas leak after pulling out the

. He cleaned up after himself. When he left you could not tell that any repair had taken place."
"I purchased a new

for our remodeled kitchen and needed the gas line lowered so that it would sit back against the wall. They came and gave an estimate but since I did not have the new

on site we needed to reschedule the service. Through complications with the delivery I had to reschedule several times. They were very flexible and patient with me. We finally got the appliance delivered so they came to move the gas line. They called prior to coming and got the work done to my satisfaction and made the whole line compliant with current city guidelines. I would recommend them and use them again."
"I was very pleased with their service. They came out to my house on several occasions. On both occasions, the people who came out to my home were very professional. One guy's name was

, and I don't remember the other guy's name. I had a lot of confidence in them for whatever they told me. Their price was very reasonable. They were competitive. They were not less expensive or more expensive; they were right in the middle. They were very prompt. They finished the work almost the same day. They did one work within the same day, and did the other one the next day. They came exactly at the right time. On the second occasion, I believed there was a gas leak, and he checked out every gas line that was in the house. I just felt very good, and I was selling my house, so everything had to be fixed according to the inspection. I felt really confident that he did a good job."
"It went perfectly fine. There were a few small hitches but they were able to take care of them. They were very professional and they were very responsive in getting it set up beforehand. They were fine but they were not fabulous. I guess I would use them again."
"He is very professional. He works very quickly and takes good care. I spent about $400. I will use this company in the future."
"Another contractor quoted me $1800 for a complex re-piping.
Austin Gas Leak Repairs Provider Name Locked
got it done in a much simpler, more effective way for $700. They may cost more per hour, but they are more effective and you will not have to re-do their work. I always say that the most expensive plumber is the one who gives you the lowest bid."
"Excellent service, prompt, professional and half the cost of the first company we hired to do the same job. They were thorough, competent and honest."
"Incompetent at best, deceptive at worst. Did not complete the job, tried to double charge for services and tried to upsell us on an unnecessary overhaul of the entire house. The two initial plumbers were pleasant and professional. They did a diagnostic test of our gas lines and determined there was a leak. Understandably in an older home, locating the leak was difficult. We accepted that we were paying for the time and labor it took to locate the leak and that they might not be entirely successful in finding it, but this did not excuse the deceptive practices that followed. The plumbers located a leak and fixed it. It took them longer, so the charges were higher than what they originally estimated. Nevertheless, when they left, they said the leak had been fixed and that the diagnostic test showed the problem had been solved and the gas lines were holding pressure properly. It was only the next day, after the city inspector arrived to check their work, that we discovered that they had failed to leave the diagnostic gauge attached to the meter for the inspector. When we called them to ask why the gauge had not been left in place, they hesitated, delayed in calling us back and then sent their "master plumber," who told us without even looking at the house that his job was to resolve "problem cases" (this, despite the first crew's assurance that there no longer was a problem when they left the house). He further said that he recommended installing an entirely new gas line system in "houses this age," again without yet looking at the house. We found it odd that the first crew had said the problem had been fixed, but the second plumber arrived knowing in advance that there was a "problem." My conclusion was that the first crew did not leave the gauge in place because they knew they had been unable to fix the leak, despite their telling me otherwise. The master plumber then performed the same diagnostic test as the first crew and attempted to charge me for it a second time (after calling the company a few days later they did agree to drop those second charges). The new test revealed that there still was a leak, confirming his self-fulfilling prophecy about there still being a problem with our gas lines. The master plumber was reluctant to

for the leak, said he would charge extra to go into the attic and again recommended installing all new plumbing throughout the house. We then contacted a different company whose plumber ran the same diagnostic and within ten minutes located the leak in the attic, less than a foot from the attic opening, at no additional charge. They performed a thorough

of the house, charged us less for the same services, and left the pressure gauge properly attached to the gas meter for the inspector to see. A note on invoicing: they gave an "estimate" in very rough figures, which they asked me to sign, and then upped the final price with no itemization of parts and labor--a bit shady, I think.
