Austin Fireplace Contractors Reviews

"The job took several months and
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was responsive and helpful every step of the way through delays caused by the city to get the original permit, delays caused by my work travel or indecision on materials.
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
provided me a great deal of guidance and recommendations with regard to durability of materials and even some design best practices.
He and Nick met with me and toured the house, reviewing my designer's plans and my ideas for the bedroom. At that first meeting, they were courteous and patient, asking many questions and discussing options up front to set my expectations. They followed that consultation promptly with an estimate that included price ranges for certain options and suggestions for ways to save some money on certain elements.
After I signed the agreement, they worked with me and the city to get the permit ready - not an easy process since earlier owners had evidently made a number of out of code modifications to the home. Nick was amazing and kept after the city inspectors on my behalf, staying in touch with me so I was never left wondering what was going on.
When work started, a very professional crew showed up and did a great job isolating the work area to prevent as much disruption to the rest of our living situation as possible. They got a suprising amount done in the first few weeks, which was a delightful contrast to my previous two redecorating experiences (both kitchen / dining projects) in which progress seemed negligible for a VERY long time.
The team was receptive to my requests for changes to priorities from the living to the bedrooms in response to my family's need.
There were inevitable delays, but my job was never "abandoned" for more than a week at a time, and I was always kept informed of the causes of delays (rain or material delays) and work resumed promptly.
Along the way, I needed to add extra tasks and
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was flexible and reasonable in pricing and executing those change requests.
"I was in the process of buying my house last May when my house inspector said that the chimney and fireplace were in need of a lot of repairs and my agent recommended bringing in Top Hot to get five me a full inspection of the fireplace.
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his wife came over and met my agent in the house and started the inspection. I went to go meet them only to find them in a state of panic because
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
had somehow fallen from his ladder while going up to the roof and was lying in my backyard waiting for EMS to show up. Needless to say we were all scared and concerned, but thankfully none of his injuries were critical.

In spite of all of that, they later sent someone else to finish the inspection and they gave me a very thorough description of the problems they saw and an estimate on the cost of repair, which we were able to use in negotiations with the seller of the house. The previous owner never used the fireplace in the all the years he lived here, so it was largely neglected and issues were never encountered. Fast forward to the start of winter, and I decided to get the requested repairs done and called up

By this time,
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
had mostly recovered but it seems he decided to shift the responsibility of roof climbing to his son-in-law, Royal. Between the two of them, they did a great job of showing me exactly what the issues were and how they could fix it. I agreed to the repairs and they gave me an estimate of the time they could come out.

Royal and another person came out and did they work in just a few hours. They seemed professional and were happy to answer any questions about the work they were doing. They waited to patch the crown, because they said that it takes a while to set and it was expected to rain in the next couple days, so they wanted to make sure conditions were right before doing the job. They kept me up to date on when they planned to come out and do the job when conditions were right, and then one day they simply let me know the job was done. I did not see a bill from them until they completed all the tasks we agreed on, even though the majority of the work was done in a day and the last part came a week and half or so later.

I continue to feel bad for the unfortunate accident that happened while they were doing the initial inspection for me, but in spite of having to deal with all of that, every member of
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been nothing but professional, informative, and very friendly with me. They do their job with integrity, and I think it speaks volumes that they felt it was only proper to send me a bill after all the work was completed to my satisfaction. My fireplace and and chimney is probably the best shape it has been in for a long time, and is ready to use without worry. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
"Another job well done by
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
. He had given us a date to return and he had quoted us a price on the first visit. (chimney sweep, inspection and dryer vent cleaning) The price was spot on and the job was done quickly and completely. I still can't get over how well my dryer works (see entry from first visit) THIS IS WELL WORTH HAVING DONE!!!!!"

came by the following day to look at the project and he provided me with a written bid that evening. He was very punctual and professional and could do the job right away, so I hired him. He and a helper removed most of the back firebox brick and half of one side so that my plumber could repair a gas leak located between the wall and the firebrick. They were very careful with my newly painted walls and fireplace mantle, in addition to my hardwood floors. After the plumber came and made his necessary repairs, Mr.
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
returned and replaced the brick with newly purchased brick. He also replaced the ash door on the floor of the fireplace. All this was done within one week. He did a great job at a fair price and was very neat and clean.
"It went very well. The project took a little longer than we expected but we are very happy with the outcome. Length of this project was not unreasonably long given the amount of work that needed to be done and normal waiting times to allow concrete to cure etc. I think
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
underestimated the time it would take. Since this is a wrap around patio we were in a construction zone for a little over a month. They did a very good job keeping the area clean and we could clearly see the progress.
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
of thumb in my experience for this and our home remodel - it always takes longer than you think. The price was fair - we had other companies come out and give us estimates. One was as high as $50K and another was $10K. We threw those two out immediately. Of the other 3 estimates Eclipse was higher by about $3K. However, I was impressed with the level of detail in the estimate which made me trust the numbers more than the others. There were no change requests or price changes. The outcome is we have a beautiful and large stone out door fireplace with a large hearth and gorgeous flagstone patio. Really added value and usable space to our home.
"The carpenter arrived and met with us to go over our specific project ideas. We provided a photo from a magazine as a guide. The carpenter was very engaged and offered suggestions to make sure the final product was going to exceed our expectations. The carpenter made sure we were informed and kept the job site clean during the week and half it took to complete the work. He was professional and polite. He even engaged our three pesky dogs, and made sure they did not get out..

The work was done precisely, and carefully, and the detaied tile work is beautiful. The finished fireplace is now the centerpiece of our living room. We are totally satisfied.
"I made an appointment for them to come by early the week following my call.
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
scheduled the appointment and said they'd be in my part of town the next day; if their other appointments went quickly they'd try to fit me into their schedule. They were able to fit me in the next day. Not only did they successfully complete the work,
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
showed me where I needed to trim trees back from the chimney and pointed out a couple of cracked flue tiles that I need to keep an eye on. He also pointed out a couple of other minor repairs that may need to be taken care of in the next couple of years, and told me how I could do some of them myself. Looking back at the receipt they left me, I see that they didn't charge me for the firebox repair.
"I used Mad Hatter Chimney Sweep,
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
from 1995-2000 and was very pleased with his work. He was prompt and cleaned out our chimney quickly and efficently. He made sure to
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
down protective drape to keep the area around the fireplace clean. He did a great job and was very personable. We moved and did not have a fireplace for several years, so I have not used him in a while, but I am calling today to set an appointment for my new fireplace. I am sure his new company will be just as good as his old one."
"Very well. They showed up on time, did all the work they were supposed to and were done in about an hour.
Austin Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
got up on the roof and looked at the chimney and the cap, pointed out a few things my inspector didn't notice and made me feel really good about the situation. I would definitely recommend them for fireplace and dryer vent cleaning services."
"It was a very positive experience. They not only did not cut corners, but also added value at every step. It was the hottest month on record yet they carried on. This was a once-in-a-lifetime expense for us yet we felt we got exceptional value for every dollar. We had some extra complications, which they solved because of the added skills of the crew, for example, completing a technical drawing needed for a particular permit. They patiently worked with us to help us ensure we obtain a special Green Star rating, for example, materials and cleanup were managed so well that we were able to find people that can get a second use from the removed siding, the fireplace and chimney inserts, and the garage doors and mechanisms, "
