" showed up at the scheduled time and graciously worked around the paint crew that had shown up unexpectedly. He probably spent about 2 hours" to complete both tasks and had to climb on the roof twice (during the dropping temperatures). He gave me good information and advice on schedule for future chimney cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. All work was completed and he left everything cleaner than when he arrived. was able to work me into his schedule on short notice AND during the busy winter weather. I not only appreciate the work he did, but also appreciate that I now feel safer using my fireplace knowing he inspected everything. I definitely recommend his services and will refer friends and family as well.

"Our chimney really didn't need cleaning as we don't use the fireplace. However, in an attempt to locate the source of a progressive odor in our house" and having already had the air ducts cleaned, I wanted to have the chimney checked for water leaks or other possible problems. The provider was immediately available and arrived within an hour of my call. He was friendly and pleasant, but couldn't find any explanation for our odor problem and admitted that there was very little in the chimney to clean out. I didn't have high expectations of solving the odor problem, but I did expect that everything would be left clean. So, I was unhappy to find a circular soot on the carpet in front of my hearth where he apparently let the vac hose end fall.

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

Before arrival to the house kept in contact with us regarding the appointment time to let us know they would arrive as promised. However on the day of the appointment when they completed the job before us early they called and asked if they could come early.
Upon arrival they introduced themselves and explained what they ...More were going to do.
They were careful to spread a blanket on the floor so not to make a mess.
After they installed the logs and made sure the fireplace worked properly. They then addressed any questions and concerns we had about using the fireplace.
Both young men were very nice, patient and courteous.
We will use should the need arise again.

I called the company, explained I wanted my gas fireplace up and running. Couldn't get it to turn on anymore. They set the appt the next day, came out ahead of time, came in, replaced the batteries in the igniter box, checked everything to make sure all was well, rearranged my for better flame, light the pilot light and ...More all was well, just in time for the cold weather we are having here. The $65 service fee was well worth it. Great company to deal with.

They were on-time, professional and everything I expected on the fireplace. Then my A/C unit went out last night so I called them this morning to see if they could come out and take a look. They scheduled me for this afternoon and were on-time, fixed a few problems, great price and service, and really happy they came out on the same day I called. ...More came out and did a real professional job, I think he's a real honest guy and didn't try to over-charge me. I will use them the next time I need help

It went great.
not only did the work but took the time to lead us through the stone selection and buying process. Actually 2 of the 3 times he came out were to help us in stone selection and then pickup/ deliver the stone. He was focused on listening to what we wanted, providing advise (pros/ cons) and guiding us through ...More the decisions. His execution on building the stone fireplace was very smooth/ timely, and the end result was a high quality fireplace, even better then we expected.
After construction, based on the stone we selected for the mantel and hearth he felt it needed to be sealed. He came back the next day and sealed the stone. This was beyond what was expected and an example of him going the extra mile to make clients happy.
I am very satisfied and would definitely be willing to give him additional business.

He gave us a detailed report on roof repairs that should be made in the coming year, as well as a general report on the condition of our roof. We were very pleased with how thorough he was and the report was a bonus. I will definitely use them again in the coming years.

just finished a project at our house and we are very happy with the results. The employees that work for Signature are very nice and easy to have in your home. They are also perfectionists - if I needed something corrected that I did not feel had been done to my liking, there was never any question. The issue would be taken ...More care of immediately and I never got the feeling that they were the slightest bit annoyed with my nit-picking. A couple of times, the employees would catch their own mistake and correct it before I even had a to say anything. The price was agreed upon before the project, so we never felt like we were being taken advantage of. The project took longer than expected, but that is a very small price to pay for a job done well. They have experts in their respective fields and I am not sure that we have ever had a plumber as good as theirs. I can’t see one mistake in the backsplash and we finally came up with a solution for a new island that gives us a ton more storage. After looking around at different companies for a kitchen remodel, I realized we were going to have to have a company that could do it all – and we found it with .

The job took several months and was responsive and helpful every step of the way through delays caused by the city to get the original permit, delays caused by my work travel or indecision on materials.
provided me a great deal of guidance and recommendations with regard to durability of materials ...More and even some design best practices.
He and Nick met with me and toured the house, reviewing my designer's plans and my ideas for the bedroom. At that first meeting, they were courteous and patient, asking many questions and discussing options up front to set my expectations. They followed that consultation promptly with an estimate that included price ranges for certain options and suggestions for ways to save some money on certain elements.
After I signed the agreement, they worked with me and the city to get the permit ready - not an easy process since earlier owners had evidently made a number of out of code modifications to the home. Nick was amazing and kept after the city inspectors on my behalf, staying in touch with me so I was never left wondering what was going on.
When work started, a very professional crew showed up and did a great job isolating the work area to prevent as much disruption to the rest of our living situation as possible. They got a suprising amount done in the first few weeks, which was a delightful contrast to my previous two redecorating experiences (both kitchen / dining projects) in which progress seemed negligible for a VERY long time.
The team was receptive to my requests for changes to priorities from the living to the bedrooms in response to my family's need.
There were inevitable delays, but my job was never "abandoned" for more than a week at a time, and I was always kept informed of the causes of delays (rain or material delays) and work resumed promptly.
Along the way, I needed to add extra tasks and was flexible and reasonable in pricing and executing those change requests.

I was in the process of buying my house last May when my house inspector said that the chimney and fireplace were in need of a lot of repairs and my agent recommended bringing in Top Hot to get five me a full inspection of the fireplace. and his wife came over and met my agent in the house and started the inspection. I went ...More to go meet them only to find them in a state of panic because had somehow fallen from his ladder while going up to the roof and was lying in my backyard waiting for EMS to show up. Needless to say we were all scared and concerned, but thankfully none of his injuries were critical.

In spite of all of that, they later sent someone else to finish the inspection and they gave me a very thorough description of the problems they saw and an estimate on the cost of repair, which we were able to use in negotiations with the seller of the house. The previous owner never used the fireplace in the all the years he lived here, so it was largely neglected and issues were never encountered. Fast forward to the start of winter, and I decided to get the requested repairs done and called up again.

By this time, had mostly recovered but it seems he decided to shift the responsibility of roof climbing to his son-in-law, Royal. Between the two of them, they did a great job of showing me exactly what the issues were and how they could fix it. I agreed to the repairs and they gave me an estimate of the time they could come out.

Royal and another person came out and did they work in just a few hours. They seemed professional and were happy to answer any questions about the work they were doing. They waited to patch the crown, because they said that it takes a while to set and it was expected to rain in the next couple days, so they wanted to make sure conditions were right before doing the job. They kept me up to date on when they planned to come out and do the job when conditions were right, and then one day they simply let me know the job was done. I did not see a bill from them until they completed all the tasks we agreed on, even though the majority of the work was done in a day and the last part came a week and half or so later.

I continue to feel bad for the unfortunate accident that happened while they were doing the initial inspection for me, but in spite of having to deal with all of that, every member of has been nothing but professional, informative, and very friendly with me. They do their job with integrity, and I think it speaks volumes that they felt it was only proper to send me a bill after all the work was completed to my satisfaction. My fireplace and and chimney is probably the best shape it has been in for a long time, and is ready to use without worry. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
