"We originally purchased a washer and gas dryer at Lowes in Bee Cave,Texas. We needed to have the dryer converted to burn propane. The Lowes service team came out" three times and were unable to complete the conversion. We were without a working dryer for a month. We returned that dryer and bought the same model from ADT. did the conversion in the shop before they brought the dryer to the house. The dryer has worked perfectly from day one.

"Purchased a dishwasher May 2, but six weeks later we are still doing dishes by hand. The installer discovered the dishwasher was damaged June 2; we reordered and" were assured they would put a rush on it. June 15 I called to check status and was told it had arrived the previous day. After two calls to installation department June 15, two calls June 15 & 16 to the contractor who apparently performs the installation, and one call June 16 to the manager on duty, we still have no install date. The manager on duty did not seem to understand that this has been a very poor customer service experience and informed me that has two business days after they receive the dishwasher to schedule the installation. Most frustrating is that at every point in this saga, we've had to initiate contact with , and without exception no employee has taken ownership or expressed an interest in resolving this to our satisfaction.

Personal opinion but I will not buy another front load washing machine again.  They simply do not clean clothes as well as the old agitator style washers do.  In the summer when I am hot and sweaty I have to wash shirts at least twice, sometimes up to four times to get the stink out.  Also, while they may save water per load washed, they run a lot longer.  My old washing machine took about 20 minutes to wash a load of clothes.  The front loader takes about an hour.  What it saves on water it more than makes up for in electricity I'm sure running three times as long.  Our front loader has not leaked but it doesn't do the job for my clothes.  Maybe someone sitting in an office all day has fewer problems having to rewash clothes.

As for appliance brand recommendations I have no particular favorites.  They all seem to be disposable these days, often costing as much to repair as to replace.  Samsung has made some good appliances as of late I've heard a lot of good reviews about from customers.  I've got a customer who bought a Kenmore refrigerator when they built the house.  The ice maker has gone out and the replacement part isn't any better since it's a known defect according to the appliance repairman they had look at it.  It was just past the warranty so they didn't pay for another part to be installed that was going to fail again.  Since Kenmore is made by other companies I'm sure they aren't the only one with this problem.  We live in a disposable society.  I look at how well it works, the warranty and cost and weigh the last two of those after kicking out the ones with bad reviews on that model.

Depends a lot on your current configuration. Rough numbers, $4-7,000 for the generator including autostart and automatic load transfer circuit box and master breakers (usually all come on the generator).

Installation (with pad already inplace and gas hookup - about $500-1000.

Electrical about $800 minimum, to maybe $2500. The $800 will get you a simple transfer switch installation but if you want some household circuits to run on the generator but others not, depending on how your current wiring is run, can run to $2000 to pull existing circuits to a new panel.

The problem is that all circuits that are going to be on the generator, unless you are planning to carry the entire household load, have to go to a separate circuit breaker panel which is fed off the automatic transfer switch, so they get power from either the power company or the generator, depending on which is providing power at the moment. That means the circuits running off either source have to be disconnected from your current breaker box, extended (commonly) over to the new box, and hooked up. All other circuits stay on your current breaker box, to run only off the public power when it is on. If the generator is large enough capactiy for your entire house load of course it costs more, but this circuit termination point moving is not needed, so electrical work drops way off to basically a connection box with the transfer switch.

A couple of words of advice - pay attention to weather protection, fire barrier between the unit and the house (including issues of overhead decks that can catch fire), automatic fire shutoff/suppression, and trickle charging from house power to generator battery. Also read CAREFULLY your power comopany rules on generator installation (commonly requires their signoff), any code restrictions on generators and noise in your area, and if your insurance rate will go up. (It definitely does if you have a fuel tank, I don't know if it does with natural gas-fired generators.)

Welcome to the world of Google ! Google this search phrase - dual fuel downdraft convection oven range

You will find a number of brands that make dual-fuel ranges with convection oven - Jenn-air of course, and GE, Bosch, Kitchenaid, Maytag, LG, Samsung, Wolf, Frigidaire, Thermador, Viking all sellin the US. Almost all major brands make this a dual-fuel convection oven range - find model(s) you like, then start checking with local vendors to see who sells them locally - the big home improvement box stores and Sears, Best Buy for starts.

However, the bad news - according to an article I found, only Jenn-Air still makes downdraft stovetops, although I did find one blog notation about a person buying a European Viking with downdraft. Basically the fan capability in downdraft ranges is just not enough to capture the odors and grease and steam coming off a cooktop, so the other brands all dripped it and recommend an over-stove powered vent hood. Most downdraft units had about a 1/10HP fan that pulled about 300 cfm - the same as a modern bathroom fan,, when to actually cause a reverse (downward) airflow over a range requires more like 1000 cfm or more causing a downward airflow of about 10-20 mph - which would make for a little private windstorm around your stove. People also found they did not like the reduced oven size to accomodate the fan unit.

Thermador and Dacor and probably others make behind the range vent units that stick up a foot or two and pull some of the fumes from the rangetop, though reviews say their performance is iffy and basically only affects the rear burners.

My recommendation - go with an overhead vent hood and eliminate the greasy buildup and high humidity in the kitchen that go with downdraft ranges - you will also pay about half a much as for a Jenn-Air downdraft unit.

It's been a fiasco from day one. In March we were told by the installer we had a standard door so, no problem. One month later, after talking with in Custom Orders about why we haven't heard anything about the door, she contacted the installer, Forrest, who said he needed to come back out to measure again because ...More it appears we don't have a standard-sized door. So Forrest came out again to measure at which time we were told that only a steel door would work since they don't custom make fiber glass doors. Price of the door is now over a thousand dollars (from around $500). We still wanted the door, so ordered it. We got the bill from which we paid in April for $1.143.61. After waiting for 4 months the door was finally going to be installed today, but another snafu, the door is too large. We decided we did not want to wait another 30 days for another door to come. We have lost any faith that will ever provide the proper door with the proper fit. We want our money back but they will only refund the money to the credit card (store credit). We don't want to do business with again so we're trying to get our money refunded to us by check. In order to do that, we are closing our credit card account.

I would like it better if they had more people on the floor for help and advice. The customer service was fine. The selection was good and most of the time I have gotten what I want.

We like them a lot. We have had no trouble with them. We bought a dryer but we also won a dryer from a raffle they were having and they took care of everything. was very helpful and knowledgeable. The delivery has always been fine and they hook everything up right. We have been customers with them since 1999.

This is a duplicate review, essentially, because Angieslist has listed twice, for some reason, but " " is a bright, meticulous appliance installer. He has the knowledge, and is going to take the time, to put everything in right. If you are looking for the cheapest and the ...More quickest, move along and find someone else. But if you would like perfection, this is your guy. We had to bring him in to redo what others did poorly - and it was so well worth it. If I had only know that wherever you buy your appliances besides Lowe's or Home Depot, that you could have pick them up, deliver, and install them - I would have used him in the first place. I just used the guys the store offered who could deliver AND install, not knowing any better. Oops!

Technician was very friendly and very efficient at completing the work. Had to replace the glass on 1 fireplace that required new parts to be ordered, which took several weeks to complete after the incorrect size was initially delivered. Technician was very apologetic after realizing incorrect glass was delivered. Scheduling a follow-up visit with ...More the correct sized glass was very easy.

I bought a washer and dryer set from this provider. For both (and they were a bit older), it was only $350 total. They delivered it and installed it for free! I ordered it on a Tuesday and was doing my laundry by Friday- very, very easy. They also offered a free 30 day warranty. I did not have to use it and have yet to have any issues with the laundry ...More machines. I'm extremely glad I did not pay for a new washer/dryer, I saved close to $1000!!

Remember when stores actually had good customer service? When I went to yesterday to rent a carpet shampooer I thought the customer service was exceptionally bad. I decided to chalk it up to a bad day. When I returned it today it was even worse, so it's probably consistent.
When I went to the customer service desk ...More and got in line there was one person behind the desk and several employees in the background chatting it up. I waited thinking one would pull off from their personal conversation to come help. That didn't happen. Eventually they broke off and walked away. No one acknowledged I was even there. I know they worked in customer service because I was there long enough for them to return after their break.
When I was finally helped I had to ask everything twice and it took forever. After I had paid, the lady who had gotten back from her break decided to actually do some work, and had the man helping me re run my credit card so that it would put add the cleaning deposit. It didn't work so I had to wait longer as they manually put the credit card info into the computer. This wall after I had paid and was about to walk out the door.
When I returned the shampooer there was a group of employees talking again. I walked up to them with the shampooer and waited to be helped. They seemed annoyed that I was there. The same woman who insisted on putting the cleaning deposit on the bill after I had already paid asked if I had cleaned it. I had taken apart all the compartments and cleaned it inside and out. I told her I had cleaned it. She must have thought I was lying because she walked off and brought another employee over to turn the machine upside down so she could look underneath it (This was the second time she walked off while she was helping me, by the way. First time was to talk to another employee.) She told me it wasn't clean enough and said I needed to clean it right there in front of her.
On a side note, I own a cleaning company. The shampooer was clean. My company has over 40 online reviews and all of them are 5 star. Believe me, it was clean. She brought over paper towels and had me clean it with my bare hands while she watched. It still wasn't good enough for her so she insisted I clean it again. This was all while her and another employee stood watching (not working). When I was done I stood their holding the paper towel in my bare hand until she held up her trash can for me to throw it away. Then she very slowly filled out the paper work and put the cleaning deposit back on my credit card.
Ironically, I just checked my credit card and the deposit was never refunded. I would try to correct this, but that would involve going to customer service again. I think I'll save myself the time. I've decided to give 2 stars. I would have done 1 but I'm sure that not every department is as bad as their customer service (or customer disservice.)

Home Deport unilaterally changed delivery date to be later than expected.
Dryer did not function upon arrival. Delivery team suggested the outlet/branch circuit in the home was faulty.
We paid an electrician to assess the situation. It turns out the dryer would not carry a voltage, ie, the dryer was faulty.
You would think that ...More if Home Deport delivered a faulty product late, they would proactively demonstrate interest in resolving the situation... But wait.... there's more!
First call to : suggested we call the manufacturer, Maytag, because it was a warranty issue. We spent 90 minutes reaching Maytag; they indicated they would repair it but not replace it. We did not want a refurbished product.
Second call to : A man named working in appliances indicated that he was unable to get "the system" to schedule a pickup to return the product, but that he would resolve it next morning. further indicated that if we did not hear back from him, that we should assume the return and pick up is scheduled.
Third call to : We called in the afternoon to ensure was able to schedule the return and pickup. was not available. We were transferred to an "expediter" named , who indicated that the return had not been scheduled by , despite his previous assurances that it would be resolved in the morning. indicated she would resolve the issue and call back with a scheduled pickup date.
Fourth call to : is unavailable but we are told he will call us back momentarily.
After 90 minutes of waiting for to call us back, I take time off of work to physically go to the store. I find out that is on break and unavailable. It takes an additional 45 minutes to actually schedule the refund and pickup, which will take 2 weeks. Neither nor were involved.
In summary, the dryer was delivered late, it did not work, we had to pay to have the product tested, we took 5 hours of our personal/work time to schedule a return, it took 4 staff from to complete the return, one of which was deceitful, and the pickup and refund will take 2 weeks.
I wish I was making this up.
