"Our ejector was over 10 years old, and was sometimes running continuously. We were told that this could indicate a defective check valve, but since the pump was over 10 years old, we decided to replace it. An additional consideration was that the old installation was improper, in that the 2" discharge from the pump fed into a vertical 3" pipe. The plumber replaced the 3" pipe with a 2" pipe, whereas another plumber wanted to install an expensive 3" pump. The plumber seemed to be experienced and knowledgeable. Our only complaint is that there were several delays in getting the work done. While the delays were understandable, in that there was an emergency situation elsewhere, the contractor did not keep us well informed of how long the delays would be. Hence we were stuck in the house for a couple days waiting for the plumber. Calling the contractor was generally not helpful."
