" contacted us several days before the inspection, and requested permission to begin the roof and exterior pass early, before meeting us. We agreed, and planned to meet him at 10AM at the property.
The neighbors told me later he got there almost 2 hours early, and spent most of that time walking the roofs of house and unattached studio, checking the soffits, etc. and taking photos. When we met him at 10, he was extremely pleasant, proffesional and fast to get to work. He popped on some boot covers to keep the floor clean and kicked off some of the longer running tests; dishwasher run, oven heating cycle.
He then began 'The Inspection', which probably should be capitilized when is involved. He has an methodical approach that borders on Crime Scene Investigation (which I liked); a clockwise run starting right beside the front door, covering the whole house. I accompanied him into the attic, where he identified several minor issues. I then wished him well as he suited up and entered the crawl, spending about 35-40 minutes in there with camera and pad.
Upon exit, we completed the assessment of the Studio building. Once done there, new booties go on, he got his laptop, uploaded his digital camera and began a photo review of his findings with and I. His circular approach I mentioned earlier made it easy to 'keep track' of the photo progression and where things were in the house, roof and crawlspace. This lasted 30-45 minutes, with patiently answering our questions, and indicating how these things would be presented in the report.
The report arrived electronically in less than 48 hours, and it was a detailed report over 40 pages, and a photo summary report about half the size, which is great for a quick refresher of his findings. I really like the fact he doesnt overstep his role; when it comes to detailed electrical/plumbing matters, he is very capable at identifying code violations, but consistently recommended proffessionals be called in to evaluate the true cost/impact of the situation.
We had both electricians and plumbers come out as a result of his findings, and had the costs of both (and repairs) covered by the seller. Since he let us know this the night of the inspection (that we should get experts before moving forward), we were able to schedule electricians and plumbers immediately and get everything done in a 10 day due diligence window in mid-December.
What wasn't covered by the seller will be my To-Do list for several months to come. and I are extremely pleased all around."

"My husband and I were purchasing from out of state. Our daughter worked with the realator and handled the inspection. We got email communication and the inspection report along with pictures emailed. Our daughter and the realator were impressed with the inspection and we felt the report gave us a vvery good picture of the homes condition, it was very thorough. I was very pleased with the service."

"Fantastic. (the inspector) was very professional & extremely thorough. Went and started prior to us even getting there. Worked through full condo bit by bit, didn't leave any part untouched. Was very responsive to our questions and comments. Made suggestions as he went along, very helpful ones."

"This experience was worth every penny - Mr. identified and explained everything from the largest issues to the smallest, most of which I would never have noticed, and produced a report so proefessional that the builder could not argue and was forced to fix EVERYTHING before I closed 2 weeks later. I would recommend HOME Authority Home Inspections and to anyone purchasing a home - this increased the value of my investment. My father is an engineer and I had asked him to accompany us during the inspection - Dad was alsovery impressed with the work, process, and report."

"Not knowing much about what to expect, put our minds at ease that we were going into this home purchase with a full understanding of the issues we were facing. His report was very detailed and supported with several photos of each problem area. The report itself contained three discriptive categories; safety concerns, repairs expected in the future and repairs needed now. His report helped to make our case to the home owners for a reduction in price congruent to the issues with the house."

"This provider was one of 2 ASHI-member firms with Angie ratings, who also offered Radon and mold testing.. Purchasing a short sale home, we had a very short due diligence period. I contacted on Thursday the 8th, and we were scheduled for the seller's first available opening on the 12th. arrived a bit early and set up the radon collector before we got there. He took us around and provided running commentary on what he checked, or didn't (non-destructive testing only; the probe is strictly visual), the results and reasons. The end result was a detailed illustrated report, to include the location (and access method) of all furnace/air-handler filters, as well as recommended priorities for handling the issues we found. Finally, he talked us thru the rough report, and sent a link to download the finished product later the same evening.. By its nature, the radon report was ready 48 hrs later. The termite letter is included and will be done the week before scheduled closing (June 11) due to its 30-day expiration.
I feel much better going into closing , and assuming a mortgage, with this information."

"I was very impressed with and his ability to perform this work at the best price. I shopped this to several other mold companies and none was even close. They were trustworthy and easy to work with and did exactly what they said they would do. These mold people have historically been a shady bunch, but this company was the exact opposite. I would recommend them to anyone in the area that is just asking for a fair deal and honorable work."

" ' professionalism and customer responsive was excellent. He seemed to be highly knowledgeable, thorough, and practical in his review and recommendations. We are going forward with his suggestions and am in the process of obtaining bids from foundation repair companies. also discovered a plumbing problem when examining our crawlspace which we have subsequently had repaired. It would have likely gone undetected for quite some time -- and his diagnosis was highly accurate."

" was early for our 7:30 AM appointment and was quite thorough in his examination of my basement. We looked at the places where the supports had been removed. He moved ceiling pieces to do this and pointed out to me where each support had originally been. He explained how the wooden support which replaced one of the missing supports would not do as good a job as steel. We looked at the old supports (which are in my crawl space) and he explained why they would not work because of how they had been removed. He specifically told me that this is not a difficult repair (he said I was his 901st estimate on a basement support missing!) and that he would write a report that I could have to show any prospective buyer. He was careful, specific and treated all of my questions with respect. I'd use him any time I ever needed another structural engineer."
