"I started having heart palpitations, and went in for an exam and EKG. Upon meeting Dr. , she seemed nice, however when she discovered that I am a veterinarian, I felt that she did not seem interested in discussing my health concerns, and instead spent most of the exam discussing her own pets!! She did not ask many questions, ...more nor did she make an effort to probe for additional details; instead she just sat back and allowed me to volunteer any information I thought was relevant. This was off-putting in that since I myself am a veterinarian, I put a lot of effort into gaining as much detail from my own clients about their pet's health; therefore as a medical professional myself, I know that her level of inquiry was sadly lacking. Afterwards, she performed a perfunctory physical exam, pulled bloodwork ( which I had already requested), and the assistant performed the EKG. Dr.

then let me know that the study seemed mostly normal, told me that the bloodwork results would be back in a few weeks and gave me a website to check, and referred me to get an echocardiogram. This was the last time I heard from Dr.

. She did not call to discuss the bloodwork. Instead I had to log online to get a brief message that bloodwork was normal. I did not even receive a copy of the labwork, nor did I have access to the actual numbers and values on the panel. The worst part is that I had a family emergency crop up, therefore I did not schedule the echocardiogram. Her office sent a letter of inquiry which I did not respond to ( again still dealing with other sick family members), so I neglected to answer the inquiry. Two months later, I received an impersonal, robotic sounding letter in the mail stating that she would no longer be my health provider because I had not scheduled the echo. I was completely shocked that she was basically telling me that I was not welcome as a patient, simply because I had the

to be overwhelmed by personal life events, and not schedule a test on her timeline! I felt that this was completely ridiculous. She had no compassion during the exam, and clearly did not understand how it felt to be so busy trying to take care of others, that you end up neglecting your own health. Maybe she was trying to cover herself in terms of liability, I don't know. However, as a doctor myself, even though my patients are animals, I know that first and foremost we are here to help and serve our patients however we can!"
