Chimney Repair Reviews in Atlanta

I was very pleased with how thorough Yilber was. I am very happy with everything. My house is gray and I had planned to have "safe" black roof installed. Yilber suggested a brown roof. I was very reluctant. He wasn't pushy, but he assured me that I wouldn't regret the choice. I love the brown roof! It gives the home a rich, sophisticated look.
There was significant damage to the interior caused by the damaged roof. You can't even tell it was repaired. They did a really nice job matching the stencil pattern on the ceiling.
The chimney looks great too.
Given all the work that was done, the price was very reasonable. It was more than what my insurance company estimated. But, Yilber was able to justify the work and cost to the insurance adjuster. I would recommend this company others looking for a roofer and other contracting work.

The worker arrived two hours early, and I was not at home. I authorized him by phone to start working and hurried home. When I arrived, he told me that he had inspected the chimney from the roof (just as the last guy had done) and found that the damage that had to be repaired was far more extensive than the original workman had said and that it could not be repaired without substantial additional work. I sent him home before he could quote me the new, higher price.
Seems like a bait and switch, and I will not be using the company again. For all I know, there is nothing wrong with my chimney. Or perhaps there is a lot wrong. I do not know, and I no longer trust this company. I will not be using them again.

Chimney Repair reviews in Atlanta

Arvydas helped me out, in a big way. I originally hired him to replace a gas fire starter and chimney sweep. As it turned out, my water heater died the same day he was here to work on my chimneys. I noticed, on Angie's List, that he had done some water heater work for others. I was desperate. He was here. I wasn't sure what to expect. He rocked it! He met me the next day, after work, to do the install. He stayed until after 9pm to complete. He was neat (it was a messy job), efficient, and handled installing the new water heater as if it was what he did everyday. I felt the work he did was superb and the price was beyond fair. The chimneys were given the same level of service. And, he cleaned my dryer vent too. It was so clogged, it looked like birds were nesting in it. New fire starter was installed and looks great. Thanks Arvydas! Why can't all professionals be just like you?

, did the work and a week later I went into my crawl space and could smell gas. Called the gas company and they told us to get out of the house, gas company came out an hour later and shut off the gas. The things were not properly installed and I had a gas leak. Our house could have blown up. I didn't call Atlanta Fireplace Specialists back because, I figured they couldn't do it right the first time, I wasn't calling them back. So, I called a plumber to come out and he corrected it and I had it inspected so, now it is working properly.

After moving into our home,

came out to perform an inspection. They were punctual, professional, neat and knowledgeable. After discovering a few items that needed repair (including an odd issue that likely was at least 50 years old), they came back and took care of everything for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an inspection, cleaning, or any other chimney repairs.

came out on two occasions prior to scheduling the exterior painting of our home. The first visit was for an assessment and estimate of the work that needed to be done, including replacing rotten wood on our porch banister, boards on our back deck, rotten wood on our chimney as well as the plan for the exterior painting of our home and detached garage. The second visit was for color consultation, where I picked out colors that were complimentary to the style and aesthetic of our home. Once everything was decided and the deposit of 30% was paid, we were scheduled. The painters arrived promptly the first day to caulk and patch up areas that needed to be fixed as well as pressure washed the home to prep the exterior for painting. The second day they again, arrived promptly and began working. They worked until the sun went down. On the third day, they put the finishing touches on the front door and shutters as well as double checked to see if there were any areas that needed to be touched up. All in all, it was a very good experience from beginning to end and our home looks fresh and new!

They were one hour late for the first appointment but overall did a good job. The representative was nice and very professional...My problem is that they showed up late which seems to be an overall experience with contractors

The chimney sweep was fine (if a bit overpriced) but the trouble began when I was informed of the $2,450 in "necessary" charges that needed to be performed, including a new damper, new chimney cap, new gas grate, and interior coating. I am not a chimney expert by any means, but in asking a host of follow up questions, their responses left no room for doubt that the vast majority of the repairs needed to be completed if I wanted to use the chimney. Most notably, I absolutely needed a new cap and the damper which was, in their words, broken and unusable. As I was not prepared to spend that kind of money, I simply didn't use the fireplace and decided to seek a second opinion from LM

. Without going into detail on the service (it was terrific), he fixed our "broken and unusable" damper in two minutes. It was simply off-track. Old, but very much still usable. He said it was an obvious problem and said it was improbable that Mad Hatter didn't realize it was simply off-track. So here's the heart of my beef with Mad Hatter. They charged me $250 to come out and told me my damper was broken, unfixable, and they needed $1,200 to fix it ($2,450 in total) because it was stuck half open. I didn't want to spend the money, so I let a good portion of the winter pass with an open damper (wasting money on escaping heat). Yet LM

came out, in two minutes and determined it was simply off-track and perfectly usable (code issues with the internal chimney coating aside). I feel that at best,

tech was incompetent, and at worst, he was dishonest in telling me the damper was broken beyond repair. Regardless of which it was, I believe I should be refunded my $250 service fee back because they absolutely did not fulfill their obligation of honest and competent service.

They did a great job overall. They did a (free) initial estimate of the stucco house I was considering buying. I called them since the general home inspector suggested a stucco inspection since there were areas needing caulking and below grade stucco.

H came out to do the inspection/estimate. It was a non-invasive test for moisture, visual inspection of windows/doors/flashing, etc. He spent about an hour doing all this and showing me where there were areas of concern (below grade stucco with high moisture levels, wood-rot in window/door trim, etc.). He was polite, professional and had pictures to show me of before/after of other jobs. He emailed an estimate to me that evening and followed up twice in the weeks following (as any good sales person would do)...but I really didn't feel any sales pressure. After closing, I contacted him and was able to negotiate a lower price for the work. They started on schedule,

, the foreman introduced himself and showed me some of the work in progress. He was polite and friendly (and took off shoes when he had to enter the house to flip the circuit breaker which flipped). I was quite satisfied with their work: the caulking looked professionally done, the trim-work also was nicely done and the foundation cutback and sealing looked clean and as if the house had been built that way. The caulking they did comes with a lifetime warranty. They explained that they'd come back each 8-12 months to inspect some of the windows/doors. Should there be any water damage, they'd re-inspect all work and labor and parts would be covered by the warranty. This is good considering the number of wood trimmed windows and the rate at which they have previously rotted. They do replace with PVC (or wood if you prefer) so hopefully I won't have to replace again. During the job, they did uncover additional wood rot on door trims which raised the final price but they were not initially caught due to the fact that the storm door metal trim was covering the wood it was only noticed when they temporarily removed this trim to caulk. They had a fairly small crew and they worked hard in the hot sun. They cleaned up their equipment and tools each night (since they left some things like ladders on-site). The only complaint I have was that there was small oil-stains on the concrete driveway caused by their vehicles. So you may want to ask them to put cardboard down if they will be parking in your driveway.

Chapel managed the project and was very good at presenting new options for the roof to avoid future leaks. The crew was timely in their installation. During the installation, they replaced small areas of decking that had become suspect. Existing furnace vents were painted and new lead boots were installed. In addition, the crew installed a ridge ventilation system to meet the manufacturer's warranty requirements.
