"In preparation for seeding, we needed 2 areas of existing turf removed. The existing soil was full of rock and the turf last year was mostly weeds. We decided to start fresh and remove as much of the rock as possible and add fresh top soil before seeding. It is early spring and too cool for a non-selective herbicide so we thought it best to have the existing sod removed with a sod stripper so we could complete the process before it was too hot. We opted to dispose of the sod ourselves because we had areas that would benefit from additional soil and roots to prevent erosion.
