"Mr. met with me within a couple of days of my initial call. And though it appeared that he was a busy man, he returned all of my subsequent" calls, directly. There were a few times when we were not able to move our project along as quickly as I would have liked, but I appreciated Mr. fitting the different stages of our project into his schedule. I was most impressed with how honest Mr. was about my flooring needs and that he came up with cost effective solutions for my problems. I also appreciated him pointing out some variances with my flooring--that one room's floors had recently been replaced--and for telling me (in advance) how this variance might affect the look of the end result (the stain coloring). Flooring's workers were friendly, efficient, and accommodating. His crew(s) came in and didn't waste any time getting started on our project. I was pleased that the sanding/staining crew took extra care to minimize any spread of saw dust, by taping off the opening of my kitchen. (Though, there wasn't much dust from the to begin with.) The crew did a great job with repairing several holes that had been drilled into the flooring, and they also repaired divots and sanded down pet stains in the wood, that had been a result of previous abuse and neglect. Each stage of the process was completed and left clean, before the crew went home. The time it took to refinish my floors was longer than expected; though the whole job still only took four work days. (The additional day was due to humidity, and the floors needing more drying time.) And while I could have stood to have the floors stained a bit darker--the stain lightened a bit over the drying process--the color of the finished product is so beautiful I don't mind not getting the exact shade I wanted. I would definitely use Flooring in the future.

"They cleaned our home from top to bottom, after fixing things such as filling in holes in the walls and painting all the touch up spots. They cleaned all our carpets," hardwood floors and tile floors Cleaned all our windows inside and out including sills and we have tons of windows as we are on a mountain with fantastic views. Power washed our patio around our pool and cement walkways. Stained our outside stairs coming up to the front door and out the back door to the pool. Painted a free standing building/garage on our property that you see as soon as you drive up our driveway. Cleaned our gutters. They moved heavy furniture for us to "stage" our home and cleaned and packed big pictures to be put away for moving day. I'm sure I'm forgetting all the services that they provided but the service was fantastic!!! , and were delightful to work with as were the rest of their crew. In the end they had to come back for a few things and they responded quickly and with a smile. This company will go far as they know the meaning of customer service. We highly recommend them and would hire them back. UPDATE: I'd like to add to my review earlier today. We gave them a "B" in pricing but to be honest we've never hired anyone for all the services they did at once. This included them being at our home over several days with an entire crew for many hours. We feel like we had a top notch service! Thank you !!!

Floor Cleaning

Preserving the floors in your home takes a consistent approach to cleaning. Knowing the right way to handle each type of flooring and the materials needed to clean decreases the chance for damage.

Angie's Answers

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
I agree with your choice - this is about the only product that can realistically, for a large room, be taken out and cleaned up after a flood and reused, thouhg carpet can be if you strip it into smaller pieces to carry wet, AND you have somewhere to wash and dry it - that is usually the problem. However, bear in mind it still has to be done within about 2 days or mildew/mold will grow on it, and may or may not be totally removeable. My personal preferences - mostly because their products are consistent, the joints stay snapped together, and they are not overly soft (a problem with cheap vinyls) are Pergo, Tarkett, Armstrong. Whatever you buy, be sure it can come back apart - some plank products are not made with a self-adhering contact glue in the joints that prevent you from taking it apart again, and some brands their snap design, while maybe better at preventing joint separation, cannot feasibly be unsnapped without tearing or breaking it off. Also, be sure whatever brandname and product line you choose it 100% vinyl (other than the urethane surface protective layer) - many vinyl floor products have paper or fiber cores or other water-absorbing components. Remember that, on concrete, since it wicks soil moisture through it, you till need a 6 mil vapor barrier under the flooring and positively sealed all around the edges to avoid the risk of mold growing on the underside of the vinyl.
Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Floor Cleaning reviews in Asheville

The company I work for (Complete Remodeling Solutions) was completing a job at Library UNCA, and facing the final inspections from both health and the university rapidly. With only 1 day to complete the cleaning of the project which included; Dusting, sweeping, mopping and removal of paint and drywall mud from the floor, washing ...More of 35 ft. high windows (7 of them), polishing of a massive amount of stainless steel, the cleaning out of and scrubbing of 4 refrigeration units, and the steam-cleaning of a large entrance area. Our superiors (and their superiors), doubted HIGHLY that the site could be cleaned within the day. Not only that, but it was already 4 PM. Which meant whoever was going to clean it, had to work over-night, IF they could even get it done.
Having found Floor Care and Restoration on Angie's List, and seeing their high rating, I called them. I spoke with , explained the details, and was given the assurance that the job would be completed to satisfaction. His crew showed up around 4:30, and got to work. Mind you that there was also other crews there finishing their work, in the way of . No complaints were expressed about the fact they had to work around other people (who would inevitably create more dust while they were cleaning), and simply did what they could while others worked.
I left the job-site at 11, and the guys had cleaned a good bit, but had a ways to go. When I showed back up at 8 AM, the place was IMMACULATE. I was honestly impressed, but not surprised. The confidence of the team gave an assurance to me of their abilities, and that confidence was well placed.
In this business, no matter if you're talking about drywall crews, electricians, whatever; finding competent, reliable, professional and efficient crews are hard to come by. That said, I am very grateful to have found a company I know that I can count on in the future to make SURE that my job-sites are presented to my clients at the highest level of cleanliness and presentation.
It was a pleasure to work with these guys, and they will certainly be used again in the future.

We had received good recommendations about , but we had issues and delays from the beginning. The primary problem was with responsiveness and timeliness -- phone calls not returned for weeks on multiple occasions. We finally switched to a different contractor to finish the job.
- Tory S.

and his family came close to performing magic, especially on those white chairs, and the garage floor has never looked better. Their prices were very reasonable and well worth it. They are all exceptionally personable and easy to deal with. did the oriental rug over the weekend, since we needed it almost ...More immediately for a home staging.
- Andrea W.

came to the house, measured the bathrooms and gave us an estimate. We scheduled the work to begin two weeks later, after the old fixtures had been removed. The work was completed on time and was done meticulously. He also gave us good advice on tile choice and grout colors. The cost of the project was exactly the estimate.
- Tina H.

rescheduled both the estimate and the work but was texting me ahead of time so I wasn't left waiting. We decided on a Sunday work day which wasn't my preference but he and his worker were punctual and efficient. The grout was 95% better and had said ahead of time it would not be 100% but it turned ...More out better than I had expected for the grout. I was surprised at the price after seeing a lower price on an earlier Angies List, but accommodated a tight time schedule for me to get the job done, which made the price worth the timing of the work
- cynthia K.

with Classic Floors was contracted by my builder to grind out the
existing interior concrete sealer and reseal my floors. Initially the
company seemed very responsive to our needs and committed to finishing
the job in a weekend (which they did). My complaint is with the overall
sloppiness of the job. ...More The application of the sealer itself is sub par
at best. The crew did not adequately remove dust, so many areas of the
floor are streaked white where sealer was applied on top of dust. The
original sealer that was to be removed had caused a lot of pitting and
assured me that would all be removed with their grinding
process. That is true only on the first two rooms that were done so I
assume that the crew decided the process was taking too long and did not
take the time on the remainder of the house. But what was most
upsetting about the whole experience is that disappeared after
the job. Despite numerous efforts on the part of my building company,
he has never returned to fix his crew's sloppiness and will not return
phone calls/emails. I suggest avoiding this company for any concrete
work - they are sloppy and do not stand behind their work.
- Carol S.

and Clay arrived fully ready to get to work. They completed the job in a timely manner and left the basement virtually spotless. They had good suggestions for future improvements. This was a tough job but they did it well and now I actually enjoy going in my basement.
- Copland R.

did an excellent job cleaning my tile floors.
My floors were extremely filthy when I moved in. There had been tenants
in the house (with a dog) who I believe had never cleaned the floors.
The grout was entrenched with dirt. Three people from
came out, got on their hands and knees ...More and scrubbed the heck out my
floors. They also used a floor cleaning machine when they could. After
they were done, the floors looked 100% better. I was very satisfied.
