"The primary surfaces came out fair at best. We have several spots where turning tires have loosened the asphalt and edges have begun to fall away after 3 months." We haven't yet sealed the surface, but this does not seem proper to us. There was little care given to a drain that is part of the layout and now the asphalt has it partially blocked off. Curbs came out rather unsightly. Finally, there was a low spot before the work began that is now holding more water than ever after a rain. We called about the curbs and some of the edges right after completion and came out to do a bit of touch up work. Still, they are looking rather rough after a short time. The low spot was really a concern and promised that he'd be out the next week to make good on that. He didn't show, and I left at least a few messages over the following weeks for him but he simply didn't call back. We find this to be very frustrating to have paid what we did and to to end up with a finished product that just isn't quite right.

"You should always get 3 good estimates before contracting work. From this experience, I suggest that you do not contact this company for one. I asked for a quote" on sealing and he attempted to get me to redo my entire driveway which honestly is not in bad condition at all. Then he came up with a quote for sealing that is 4 times the national average for this work. He just looked around and eyeballed the project without costing it out properly. And he did not even bother to write it down on paper. When I told him that he was 4 times higher than my other two estimates, he stated that he does things right and doesn't use the cheap stuff. This guy has an answer for everything.

Generally about $1-3/SF (note - measured by SF, not SY) - $1 range is for a 1 to 1/2-2 inch overlay, $2.50-3.00 range normal for two 2" layers for a new driveway or a rebuild (remove and replace) you really want to last.

Most people pay around $2/SF for a 2-3" thickness.

If the state requires a contractor's license, then he needs to have a license in each state he intends to work in - plus state/local business licenses as applicable.

This does not mean there are not a lot of contractors who cross state lines without proper licensing - the penalties in may cases are not real severe and are just a fine, not criminal, so many take the chance.

As you say - argh  - many contractors are not really businessmen and have zero legal education, so many people get burned.

Asphalt Paving reviews in Asheville

called the previous day to schedule. Showed up with his crew about when he said he would. Proceeded with the work as needed. His work was very good and I even got him to do an extra detail which was no problem for him. He has all of the proper equipment to do the job and his crew works well together. His clean up work was ...More also very good. Compared to other bids I had, his price was on the lower end and very much in line with the expected costs for this area. I would definitely contact him again for asphalt work.

Firstly they did an awful job then when we disputed the Credit Card Charges... came out and supposedly fixed the problem...Asking to be paid in cash...Naively we did and we are left with still a BAD patching job and neither his office OR his cell will answer 5 calls we made to them in one hour!!!
PLEASE save yourself $$$ ...More and aggravation by using another company!

is very dedicated to providing the best service and result for customer. He is very knowledgeable in his field and answered all my questions ....and I had a lot ! Ladies , as we manage a good portion of home repairs, here is a man you can trust to do a great job . He is respectful to the environment ( I live on a lake) and ...More at the end of the project left a clean work site. He kept me posted as to the timing of the project since we were having alot of rain. I was also able to call him with additional questions/ concerns His crew has been with him many years and all were prepared to do a comprehensive job. The pitch of the driveway is perfect for drainage. So glad I used his company...my yard looks so much better. Just love the results!

Everything went very well and according to plan. We are very pleased with the driveway. crew were very careful about not disturbing our stone walls or brickwork in the backyard during the installation.

We had an appointment to get a quote for sealing our driveway. He no showed and no called. We waited all day for him and even waited several days before writing this. I do not like to be negative about anyone but it has been over a week, and he could have at least called.

We set an appointment to have a quote for sealing our driveway. He no showed and no called. I do not like to be negative about anyone, but we had an appointment and waited for him to come, we even gave him several days before writing this. Still have not heard from him and it has been a week.

From assessing the job and estimate through doing and completing the driveway, this was an excellent experience. and his crew did an excellent job in a little over half a day. I will have them come back later in the year to seal the driveway.
- Barbara O.

Crew courteous. the same. The job was not graded as well as it could have been. The concrete in the driveway set a bit too fast, so that he surface is not as even as I would have liked it. These flaws are not that bad, but do detract from the quality of the job.
