I highly recommend Dr.
. My husband and I both saw him for the first time this year since we are new to the area. We both agreed that he was exactly what we were looking for in a new family doctor. He has a great sense of humor that puts you at ease. He was very patient in listening to me - I didn't feel like I was being rushed out, though I can, on occasion, be known to be an extraneous talker. He is without a doubt, very intelligent and I have no problem at all completely trusting him.

If I need something, I will go there. I have been going to them for about five years. They are good people. They seem to have a very good practice, I have only seen two of the doctors. They get you in and out very quickly, but if you need them to spend time with you, then they will do that.

The medical practice has changed from
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
Family Health Center to "
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
". Two of the five physicians left the practice, there was a near 100% change over in office staff. I have recommended
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
numerous times in the ten years that my wife and I have been patients of Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
. Since the practice reorganized as"My Family Doctor" there has been a paradigm shift away from patient care. Even though the practice inhabits the same building, this is not the same practice that I have recommended.

My wife had surgery on December 2, from which the recovery had not gone well. On December 26, she asked me to call in a prescription refill to our pharmacist. At 12:10 pm, following what I had known as the protocol of the practice, I telephoned our pharmacist to have a prescription refill sent to our physician's office. The pharmacist later confirmed that the prescription refill request was confirmed as received by "
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
" at approximately 12:17 pm. I called our pharmacist at 3:07 pm to verify that the prescription had been sent and to check if they had received a reply and if it had been filled. My pharmacist informed my that they had not heard anything from my physician's office. I telephoned "
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
" at 3:08 pm and was routed on their new automated system to the voice mail of an unnamed medical assistant and left a message concerning the prescription refill and that it needed to be sent ASAP to our pharmacist.

Upon the request of my wife, I drove to "
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
" an arrived at approximately 3:35 pm. The parking lot was almost empty and upon entering the waiting area, I noticed I was the only person there. I approached the reception desk and informed them that our pharmacist had sent a prescription refill request for my wife to their office earlier that day and had not received a reply. I also mentioned that I had left a message on the medical assistant's voice mail concerning the urgency of the request. The person immediately behind the desk asked for my wife's name and date of birth so they could bring up her records on their electronic records system. It took over three minute to access her records on their electronic system. They found her records and the drug that needed to be refilled. The time was approximately 3:40 pm.

One of the two people behind the desk asked if I had called the "triage" line. I responded that I did not know what the "triage" line was, and that I had left a message with a medical assistant. This person responded that it takes 2 - 5 days for a prescription refill request to be processed and that they do not check the messages on the medical assistant line until the end of the day. I told this person, repeating what I had previously said, that I did not leave a prescription refill request on the phone. I had asked my pharmacist to send a request to the their office, that they had not heard back and I was there to check on it because they ("
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
") had not contacted the pharmacy. I explained that my wife had had surgery three weeks prior and needed her medication which had been prescribed by one of their physicians. This staff person said they had not received the prescription refill request and asked me "How did they send it?" I said I did not know since I was not present at the pharmacy when this took place but I would call and find out. I called the pharmacist, who confirmed that the request was sent by fax and successful reception was confirmed at 12:17 pm. I placed this call at 3:47 pm, three and a half hours after the pharmacist had successfully faxed the prescription request. This person responded "We don't read the faxes we receive. We only receive prescriptions electronically. All of the pharmacies have been notified of this policy. We sent them a letter; they probably ignored it and threw it away. " I kept the pharmacist on the phone while I attempted to resolve this matter with this person behind the desk. I relayed this information to my pharmacist, who replied that their office, "
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
" was not on their "EScribe" list and that they had not been notified of any change. I asked this person at "
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
" if they could speak with our pharmacist so they could resolve this matter and I could get my wife's prescription refilled. She refused, again stating that"They got the letter, if they are not going to follow our policy, I don't need to speak with them" and inferred that my pharmacist was not telling the truth.

At this point, the person behind the desk disappeared with out an explanation. I asked the other person behind the desk is there any thing they could do to make this happen. My wife was a patient of Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
and she needed her medication. This other person replied that the only doctor there was Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
and she was on call a busy seeing patients and she would not have time to deal with this today. At this point, the other person appeared from behind the door, mentioned that she had spoken with a nurse and pronounced that this medication cannot be refilled without my wife making an appointment, and that her physician was out of town. I again asked was there anything they could do to get the prescription filled that day, and this person again replied "No, her doctor is out of town." At this point, they shut the glass between myself and the reception area. The time was 4 pm, or 25 minutes since I had arrived at their office. During this time, I was the only person in the waiting area. I did not see any patients leave or enter the office.

My experience can be summarized in the following points:
Even though this office uses electronic medical records, it took over three minutes to access my wife's records and over 25 minutes to determine that she needed to make an appointment for the prescription that they saw in her records. Never, at anytime, did they offer or attempt to make arrangements for my wife to see the physician on call, Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
. My wife had seen Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
several times and Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
has written prescriptions for her and for myself many times. I informed the staff of my wife's condition and that her recovery was not going well. Never did they offer any solution, including an appointment with the on call physician. It is not my responsibility as a patient of the medical practice and a customer of the pharmacy to communicate the policy of the doctor's office in regards to how they want their prescription refill request sent to them. The office placed be in this position, in between them and the pharmacy. When offered, the staff refused to speak with the pharmacy. Even though the refill request had been faxed and received by the practice, the staff refused to look at the fax because their policy is that all prescriptions are to be sent by the e-scrbe system, even if this means a prescription that one of their patients needs goes unfilled. Policy and procedure are more important that patient care. Never at anytime did they inform me of when my wife's physician would return or if I would like to schedule an appointment with her. Their only response when I asked "What can I do?" was "your wife's doctor is out of town." Never did they offer to schedule an appointment with my wife's physician or any other physician at the practice. I came to the office that afternoon because my wife needed medical help. The staff refused to do anything to help my wife, a patient of Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
's for 10 years, in anyway. The only thing they would tell me is "Your wife's physician is out of town." While at the office on the afternoon of December 26, I was informed that any prescription refill request would take between 2 - 5 days to complete when submitted through the e-scribe system. Because of this experience and the obvious paradigm shift away from patient care as the priority of the practice, my wife and I can no longer rely on "Or Family Doctor" for our primary care, nor can we recommend them as we have numerous times over the last 10 years.

Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
is the most caring and thorough doctor I have ever known. I consider myself blessed to have been in his care for almost 30 years as my primary physician. He would still be my physician were it not for the ambitiousness of his former partners at
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
essentially forcing him out. I believe he now is with Hospice care and no longer works as a family physician. How unfortunate for many like me, but how wonderful for those in the last stages of life. Anyone he sees as a patient should consider it a privilege to have him.

He is caring, concerned, and friendly. He will refer when it's something he can't treat, and he is very upfront about that. He is just outstanding. He will take as much time as I need and answers all of my questions. They actually have a policy that they will see you within 30 minutes.

Spent approx 30 min. with Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
, we talk about health problems, what to do, tests I need to take, etc. Then just general conversation about her girls and what we both have been doing.

Next to their lab, the most unbelievably great labs in this area and it is in house! They are actually competent and compassionate!

Out to front so they can ignore you waiting or trying to see which HAS to get this one.

As long as you are prepared for a rather lengthy wait, she is worth it. She will spend as long as you need discussing a treatment plan.

I left the office with a huge smile on my face because I was SO happy to have finally found a physician that listens, cares and most of all gives me longer than a few minutes. In fact he spent 45 minutes one on one with me on my first visit. On my follow up visit which was to check on me after starting a medication was just as wonderful. He spent 30 minutes with me. He asks questions, listens to me when I speak, is completely attentive and caring. I am extremely picky when it comes to physicians and since I pay out of pocket on high deductible plan, I expect a lot from a doctor. Dr.
Asheville Family Practice Doctors Provider Name Locked
exceeded my expectations in every way and I am planning to take my daughter to him as well instead of her pediatrician. He is open to alternative therapies and takes the time to review my information before he comes in the room. He already knows and remembers my information from the previous visit and is fully present and engaged when he is with me. I had visited a specialist since my last visit with him and he had already read the report and was completely in the loop on that visit and what was going on with this particular health issue. His nurse is so sweet and kind. They take your blood right in the office and call with results as soon as they come in (this seems to be a rarity in offices these days). His staff was nice, I had almost no wait time in the waiting room and in the exam room. They use a computer system that makes them very efficient and when he was sending in my prescription to the pharmacy he did it right from his laptop in the room with me. No issues with getting my script sent over, and no hard script to bring myself. I can't say enough good things about this Doctor, he is truly one of a kind.
