"I was told it would be 2-3 weeks to make the chasepan. No problem. 3 weeks later they came out and the custom made chasepan was the wrong size. I was told they would contact me when" a new one was completed. 1 1/2 month later, I hadn't heard from them and called them. They stated they tried to call but I never received a call and they had the correct number so I can only assume they never tried to call. So they told me they needed to come back out and measure again so setup an appointment for them to come out. They rescheduled that appointment a few times but did make it out to measure (not the first time they rescheduled). So we setup an appointment for Sept. 19 to have the work done. They day of the 19th, I got a call they were running late (appt. was at 3pm) and would call me with the new estimated time. I never heard from them and nobody showed up. So I am done with this company.

"Called for sweep pricing and scheduled appointment.
arrived as scheduled. Advised him of the concerns I had with recent performance of fireplace and he took" note indicating he would investigate. He explained what he would be doing and went to work quickly. After he completed the sweep and inspection he told me what he found in detail and showed me what he could inside the fireplace to support his theories. He recommended we contact a mason for the additional work he found necessary and offered a referral which I appreciated. I found his pricing to be very competitive based on verbal quotes received.

"
was very professional and efficient. He explained what he was going to do and why. He answered all my questions without getting frustrated, which is different" from other people I have worked with. He cleaned up after himself and the swamp cooler and area around it looked better than it ever has! He was able to get to my house to do an estimate the same day the called and had the work done the next day.

We had an appointment and they never showed up. I called and offered to reschedule thinking they were running behind or forgot - and they never responded to my follow up call. They just completely blew me off.

Everything started well. They were responsive to my inquiries and proposed a fair price. They started on time and the job seemed to move along quickly. When I came home for lunch one day after the old roof was removed and the felt was installed. I asked the job foreman about the roof straps that were part of the job. He gave me a deer in the headlights look and told me that they were being installed. The next day, I came home for lunch again and they had removed the felt and started installing the straps. Fast forward to job completion, I hired a wind mitigation inspector for insurance purposes. He went up in the attic and found that the straps that were installed in the attic were installed improperly. So, I called and set up a day for Seaside to come back out and fix the straps. I took a day off from work to let them in the attic. They were supposed to be there at 8 am. Nobody showed up! So, I called to inquire just before 9, and was told that their worker called in sick and they would not be there that day. So, we rescheduled for 2 days later. My father waited at the house for them to show up, and again, they were a no-show! Again, I didn't receive a call from them and had to call them around 9:30 am to find out what was going on. They said there was an emergency at another job and they would not be there that day either. Again, they didn't call me to cancel, I had to call them to find out what was going on. This is where I must point out one of the most frustrating things about this project. The Sales Manager
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
is probably one of the worst communicators I have ever met. He is totally inconsiderate and is like talking to a wall! That said, we rescheduled and they fixed the straps in the attic over the garage. I asked while they were there to make sure the rest of the house was completed properly.
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
assured me that all we done. The mistake was due to a new hire working on the straps over the garage. I still had an uneasy feeling about this. So, I decided to climb around in the attic and check the work myself. I found that they had not even installed straps in three areas of the house. It was about this time (or a little before) that I started calling the office requesting to speak to the owner of the company (more to come on this). In the mean time, I called and scheduled them to come back out and install the straps. I took another day off of work to let them in the attic (2nd day off wasted!). They came and installed the straps in two of the places and said they would be back in a few days to finish the last area. They finally did finish the job. During this process, I called the office, the Sales Manager and emailed the receptionist requesting to speak to the owner. My count was 10 times! Mr.
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
finally gave me a call and I expressed my concerns and let him know how his employees were failing. He apologized, but failed to offer any concessions for all of the time his company wasted (my two days off and my father having to be there for 2 days). I requested that they pay for the re-inspection of the wind mitigation and he agreed to let me take that off of the final payment. I really didn't want to ask for money off for my time, I was expecting that he would offer something for that. If something like this happened with my company, I would bend over backwards for the customer. This was not done! I am very disappointed with the service this company provided! When all is said and done, I am pleased with the roof, but would highly recommend hiring another roofing contractor for your roofing needs.

We originally booked an estimate for Monday 9/15 and the mason did not show. He called an hour after the appointment was supposed to be scheduled and said he had an emergency. Due to good reviews on their work, we booked a second appointment for the following Monday 9/22. The mason showed up an hour late and promised to have the estimate written by Thursday at the latest. Not only do we not have an estimate, but they are not picking up our calls now.

The previous home owners had told me they didn't use the upstairs fireplace and during the heavy rains in June, I got some water in by the chimney. I saw the Angies List deal and had
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
come out and inspect to know if I could use the fireplaces and help determine where the leak was coming in. He worked very closely with me in determining that the fireplaces are ok to use and some new caps and a better flashing would help. While he was here, he said he could also apply similar flashing around 3 skylights that leaked. My house was built in the 50's and he even did research on the fireplace codes back at the time the house was built because my chimney was a bit unusual and he wanted to make sure it was to the older code before he recommended any "re-lining" because it was different than code today. He determined it was to code and no repairs needed to the flue.
He was able to schedule the repairs within the week but the chimney flues were special sizes and had to be ordered. He sent me several options and prices to let me pick what I wanted. It took a couple of weeks to order and then have them installed.
The workmanship was great, the time he took to take pictures and send me pictures so I knew my options and how his installation was done.
There was some delay in replacing of my caps due to the fact they had to be ordered special and we had so much rain in June that he had many urgent repairs for people. I am thankful that he prioritizes repairs to seal up leaks to other installations etc...

It went smoothly. The cap looks great. The only issue I had was that it took a while to finally have the job done. I originally asked for a single cap without realizing that I would need a double for my chimney. This delayed the process, but I am glad I chose

During winter of 2011, we contracted with local painter recommended by
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
Paint Co as "best in town" to clean and coat the almost 8,000 square feet of standing seam terne rooting that was "molded" to this great old home (built in 1890). The
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
"rep" said they would choose their best product for the job. Two weeks post completion, the product was peeling, cracking, and blowing off in windy conditions.
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
said it was the painter's fault.. poor prep. But experts said the product chosen would not have adhered to this metal regardless of preparation. We watched as the coating trapped water underneath and progressively flaked and lifted. It was a disaster and roofers, painters consulted in the months and years since then all said "replace the roof". Quite a few other historic homes in town have replaced roofing with new metal and we felt it gave the homes almost a "warehouse" look. These old homes are supposed to have terne roofing! After a lot of research, we knew we wanted to clean the exisiting roof and coat it with Acrymax. There are two elastomeric coatings made in
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
, but our experience with one of them in 1999 was not successful . It washed off in two years, leaving a camouflage look.. and stopped up our gutter system. The closest certified contractor Acrymax had was in western Va.- which would have involved major hotel, etc. expenses. Local contractors had no idea what needed to be done to save the grand old roof.
We called

after noting on line that it was a 3rd generation company.. like Preservation Products.
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
of
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
came out within 2 days bringing with him
Albany Chimney Covers Provider Name Locked
of Blackwater Construction.. They knew exactly what needed to be done to adequately clean the roof and coat it to preserve it for future years. They agreed to become certified for Acrymax application so that we would be covered by Acrymax's warranty. and be able to pass that assurance on to any future owners.
The entire roof was cleaned using an environmentally conservative blasting machine that utilizes small glass beads and a limited spray of water . The result was incredible. With the exception of some valleys where trapped moisture had created some pin holes, the metal looked like new. They replaced some metal runs in those areas and utilized Acrymax methods to adequately seal others. The team worked for six HARD weeks in incredible heat and we can't say enough about the result. The roof is a beautiful slate gray color and with all our hurricane season rains lately.. we know we're completely dry and protected for years to come. These fellows did a fantastic job and I'd trust any roofing job to their capable hands and amazing work ethic. They were absolutely determined that this job be as good as it could be. In our world, we felt that we simply had to preserve the amazing craftsmanship and terne metal that went into the original construction. To tear off a roof that was "made" for this house would have been a crime. We are so very, very grateful to have found these young men who agreed with those values. It is gratifying to know that in this "instant, microwave" world, there are still folks around who fall into the "craftsman" category. If we build a "retirement home".. we'll certainly want to be associated with these folks again.
