Everett Barnard's porch design seamlessly bridges two eras in the history of Lisa Bick's Zionsville house.

"It joined the front part of my home, built in 1860, with the back, which was added in 1999. It was a difficult design because the two roof areas had to be blended to make the porch feel like part of the whole.

"He incorporated original posts from the mid-19th century with gingerbread fretwork based on period designs he researched and cut himself. He has a sixth sense about what element suits every period of home."
