Windows Made Easy finds difficulty with client
COMPLAINT: Shannon Coburn, Columbus, Ohio
"I hired Windows Made Easy of Gahanna to put in new windows, install new cabinets and install a paver patio. The windows and cabinets were OK except they didn't file the proper permits for the windows. However, I have an incomplete patio. It's a mess - [they left] stacks of buckets, sand, pavers, a bag of mortar and a cutting table.
"They tore out the existing concrete stairs that were sinking and tried to pour new stairs, but the pad is uneven. My stairs are now just concrete blocks. They left a big pile of sand in my driveway, so I can't park there. I also found out I paid way too much for the windows. Now they want to renegotiate the contract to complete the job — which requires additional money."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to complete the job in an appropriate manner or refund $1,880."
COMPANY RESPONSE: Les Herrbach, owner
"The [subcontractor] simply didn't perform to the specifications he had written on his contract. He made promises he didn't keep. I pleaded on several occasions for him to keep his word, but to no avail. As a responsible contractor, I will do the right thing for my customer."
