In business since 1996, Gilmore’s company has earned the Super Service Award every year since the distinction of good customer service began in 1999. “We have the philosophy of doing a detailed job for a fair price,” Gilmore says.

Ron Gilmore, owner of Detail Window Cleaning in Indianapolis, says he runs his business with two things in mind: "I want to do a good job and I want to supply a service that makes customers happy."

In the industry for 33 years, Gilmore worked at the company for nine years before purchasing it in 2006. He says he took over the helm knowing the keys to happy customers - good communication and consistent attention to detail.

"Most of my business is return customers," Gilmore says. "So I always tell my customers, if you're not satisfied, let us know and we'll make it right."

That consistent focus and successful customer satisfaction relies on a smaller model. Besides Ron and his wife Janice, who runs the office, there are only three employees. "I really don't hire that many people, because keeping it small helps keep the quality up. Honest people who work hard is all I look for," Gilmore says.

And the employees have to be high quality; only those who pass background and drug tests measure up to Gilmore's standards. Each of his workers has been with the company for at least five years.

Edward Steward of Indianapolis hired the company for the first time in September and was impressed with the results. "They did a beautiful job at a very reasonable price with no fuss or mess," Steward says.

Great first impressions help, but so does a track record of safety and training, Gilmore says. "No doubt about it, safety is one of the biggest things," he says. To that end, his company is a member of the International Window Cleaning Association, which provides annual training, and is fully bonded and insured.

Detail Window Cleaning operates year-round and also offers housecleaning, deep cleaning, and fan and chandelier cleaning services. Each year, Gilmore also donates discounted window-cleaning work to help support Riley Hospital for Children.
