COMPLAINT: Sally Stickney, Redmond, Wash.
"Evergreen Tree Care provided full pruning of the landscaping in my front and backyards. I received an unsolicited call from them, and it just so happened I needed work done, so they came out and provided an estimate.
They quoted what I thought was an exorbitant price but explained the job included the full landscape, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. [At the time], it appeared the crew did an adequate job, but later I realized it was mediocre.
There were entire areas of the landscape where they hadn't properly pruned all the trees, and there was another tree they'd promised to trim but hadn't touched. I watched them work, and the leader asked me several times what I wanted, which felt like a mechanic asking what I wanted repaired on my car.
I wanted them to use their expertise. It seemed only a few knew anything substantive about tree and shrub care. I've followed up with them to dispute the amount relative to the quality of service, but they haven't responded."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "The amount of the bill is $2,800. I want to pay at least $1,000 less, or $1,800, and I'd like them to cut the lowest branches from two trees and remove the dead material."
