Tampa electrician allegedly breaks refund promise
COMPLAINT: Gary Myers, Tampa, Fla.
"I hired Thomas Electrical Service and Repair to rewire an old house, bring it up to code, install a tankless water heater, run network cables, install lights, fans and smoke detectors, and wire up a boat dock lift and Jacuzzi.
"Things ran pretty smoothly while money was still due to them. Many small mistakes were made, but corrected after I made a comment.
"I made the mistake of making the final payment before the job was complete. The smoke detectors weren't installed, and it took them two months to come install them. Then they tried to make me pay extra for them, even though they were included in the contract.
"The boat lift was paid in full, but because of permit issues, the work was delayed for months. The owner told me to find someone else to finish the job, and he would refund me the difference on the contract. Three months later, I have not seen a penny, despite repeated promises that he would be sending a check."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like a $1,200 refund for the items that were not completed. I'm also seeking $165 for the rental fee I had to pay to store my boat while the work was delayed."
