Tampa door company focuses on mastery of just one trade

Sliding Door Roller Replacement owner Michelle Chamo says her family realized a unique opportunity when they expanded her father's Chicago construction business to Florida.
"We didn't want to be a jack-of-all-trades," she says. "We wanted to focus on one thing and be really good at this one thing. We realized this was the perfect thing to focus on, because everybody in Florida uses their sliding doors 50 times a day to go in and out."
So Sliding Door Roller Replacement works on nothing but sliding doors: tracks, rollers, locks and handles. "We can fix the rollers and replace the track to make it like a brand-new door," she says.
Angie's List member Jeff Plummer of Gulfport certainly appreciated their expertise when he hired the company to repair sliding doors that had been giving him sticking problems for years. "It would have cost $10,000 to replace them, but they were able to expertly repair the doors for $375 in one afternoon," he says.
The company also emphasizes security. "We think security locks are very important because of all the pools," Chamo says.
She adds that homeowners can minimize the need for repairs with simple maintenance. "We really stress that people clean the track at least once every few months," she says. "Brush the track with a metal brush, vacuum it and lubricate with an aluminum lubricant. Those will make the rollers last much longer."
In addition to specialization, Chamo works to present the best image possible. "The technician is always clean and dressed in uniform," she says.
"We arrive on time and make sure people know exactly what the work will cost," Chamo continues. "We want to educate people about what they're getting into. We give a one-year warranty, and if there are any problems, we'll come back at no charge and fix the issue just like it was the first day we were working on it."
