COMPLAINT: David McQueen, St. Louis
"A selling agent from Cardinal Door came to my home and submitted a bid for approximately $950 to replace my garage door and opener.I finalized the contract, along with a $100 deposit.
Three days later, the agent phoned me and stated the company wouldn't honor the contract price and would need an additional $179 to do the work - a classic bait-and-switch maneuver.
I declined the offer and incurred additional stop payment charges on the deposit check.
When I stopped by the showroom to get my check back, the people there seemed unaware and unconcerned that I had just been taken."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like to be reimbursed the $30 bank stop payment fee."
RESPONSE: "When the member came into our office to retrieve his deposit check we explained it hadn't been processed and was still in the hands of the sales representative.
He was assured that when the representative returned to the office with the check, he would contact him.
While we were attempting to return the check, we were informed by the member that he stopped payment and gave us instructions to dispose of it.
We've destroyed the check per his request."

After several repair attempts, they told me to buy a new furnace. I'd already given them $400 to fix my old one. They said they'd return it but never did."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like a full refund."
