Seattle landscaping company fails to finish work
Still waiting
COMPLAINT: Mark Fiebig, Seattle
"Western Landscaping has pruned my perimeter hedge for two years. The first year, they completed the work in a timely fashion and according to my instructions, though it did take several return trips to have the work finished to my satisfaction.
"This year, I made the mistake of paying before they completed the work and prior to my inspecting the last segment. I couldn't get them to come back and complete the work the owner had said they'd complete."

Wires crossed
COMPLAINT: Amy Murphy, Shoreline, Wash.
"I hired Windward Contracting for a bathroom remodel. Much of the work was adequate, but there were some problems I thought added up to an overall lack of attention. Minor issues were corrected promptly. After the project was finished, I found the vent hole hadn't been cut out, though it had been framed, and sheet metal for the vent wasn't connected.
"I wrote Windward and received a dismissive written response. It turns out the pipe they used for potable water wasn't coded, but I shouldn't worry, as ill health effects weren't likely. I also discovered the heater was installed upside down and with the black and red wires crossed. I asked Windward for a small refund because of the worker-related errors I've had to remedy."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like Windward to acknowledge their errors and issue a 10-percent refund."
STATUS: Resolved
Editor's Note: Windward offered the member a $500 refund, and the member accepted the offer.
