San Diego dance instructor teaches ballet
Named for famed instructor Enrico Cechetti, this style combines strict training with special attention to a dancer's anatomy. "He formalized ballet in Italy," Palmer-Zetlet says. "His system really helped me as a pro."
Ernie's daughter, Mattea, participates every year in the school's annual recital. "It's amazing," Hernandez says.
Sylvia Palmer-Zetler opened Black Mountain in 1985 after dancing professionally for the National Ballet of Canada and studying overseas in such cities as London; Paris; Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; and Glasgow, Scotland. Black Mountain currently has ten instructors and 140 students.

Member comments "My 8-year-old daughter has attended Black Mountain for more than three years now. The young ladies in the various classes show an appreciation for the art and respect for their teachers. It's a caring environment where older students mentor younger students in assistant instructor roles. As a parent, you can watch the class during the first session of each month, which provides a wonderful insight to the instructing methods and instructor's personalities. I highly recommend Black Mountain."
