Richmond complaint

COMPLAINT: Gleness Knauer, Glen Allen, Va.

"I ordered new granite for my kitchen from The Co., and they told me they could have the order ready in as little as two weeks. Several months later, I still haven't received the proper granite.

One shipment had unacceptable streaks, and the other wasn't the same color. I contacted the company and they gave me three choices: take the granite they have in stock, wait or get a refund. I asked for the refund.

They told me it no longer applied since they'd already cut the granite. I never gave approval for them to do this. I went to see the granite and they had used a machine to cut it, without any handwork.

The manager promised the refund. I've written letters, and no one will return my calls. I've also attempted to call the owner, Tom [Passarelli]. He sent me a response saying I was in breach of contract and this would affect my credit.

This has cost me $4,500, plus my time and effort."

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a full refund."

Richmond gutter complaint

COMPLAINT: Joyce Hartman, Chesterfield, Va.

"I hired All About Gutters to clean my gutters. While doing the work, they said there was a badly deteriorated fascia board and asked if I wanted them to replace it for $125. I agreed.

They picked up the check and told me there was another bad board at the back of the house. I took their word. This time, the cost was $165. At their request, I left the check under the front mat.

When I returned from work, the check was gone, but it didn't appear they did any work. The board still has the same black chimney marks and an old roofing nail behind the gutter.

DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I'd like verification that they replaced both boards."
