Raleigh plumbing company accused of shoddy work

Didn't respond to Judith Bryant's request to provide a receipt and warranty information she says she did not receive with her new water heater.

COMPLAINT: Barbara Busch, Raleigh, N.C.
"I hired Lester's Plumbing Service because I had a leak in my crawl space. He [Lester McMinis, president/operator] told me the cap in a drain had disintegrated because of age.
"He put a rubber cap on the drain trap for the tub. I also had problems in my master bathroom. He looked at it and said it was fine, but it really isn't.
"I had an inspection done, and the inspector said it should be a metal drain trap not a rubber cap like he installed. The spigot was loose and he never even attached it. A second plumber came out and attached it for me.
"I kept turning it, and come to find out, the knob was really for a water heater and it was not frost free, which is what the second plumber recommended. I called Lester McMinis and he said, "Well, you didn't ask for a frost-free one."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a 100 percent refund so I can have the work done satisfactorily."

"All of the work we performed was done neatly, professionally and after the member's approval and consultation. The decision as to what is done is ultimately the customer's.
"All work we did for the member was done with her budget in mind. If we were to have done work as she now describes, it would have cost a lot more money, but at the time she declined these more expensive options. All work was competitively priced, and done as if "it were my house."
"Regarding the master bath shower faucet, we checked the faucet thoroughly and completely. The next step to try to improve the lack of adjustment would have been total replacement. This was explained to her and she declined this option.
"I am most certainly willing to go to her home and install a frost-free one free of charge, but I wouldn't recommend it at all. Our philosophy is to treat our customers as we would like to be treated and we have always have been committed to customer service and satisfaction."
