Questions over carpet quality trigger dispute
COMPLAINT: Curt Harvey, Acworth, Ga.
"I hired GA Flooring Inc. to replace my basement carpet and pad due to water damage from heavy rains. The Berber carpet covered about 900 square feet, including the stairs. Floyd [Abdul, the owner] showed me samples of a similar style, and he said, quality, to the one I had. I believed him.
"Within two months there was fraying at the seams, excessive wear and a definite worn path. GA Flooring claimed to be "just installers" and did not honor the pitch of equal quality they pushed."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like the carpet replaced, at no charge, with one that is of the quality I had before."
RESPONSE: Floyd Abdul, owner, GA Flooring Inc.
"I asked the member for the specs. He said he had no idea. I suggested he contact the builder, because without any specs, it would be a guess and I couldn't guarantee it was a match. They did not find out the specs. They looked at several samples, chose one and assured me they were happy with their choice.
"The manufacturer sent out an inspector and found nothing wrong with the carpet."
