Description of work: "I adopted a bichon frise, Ellie, through a rescue group. She had spent her life as a breeder in a puppy mill and was in dire need of socialization and leash training.

"I dropped Ellie off with [owner] Katy [Cushing] at 8 a.m. and picked her up at 4 p.m. for four days in a row."

Member comments: "I had taken my other bichon to Katy for training several years ago and asked her for help with this one. By the third day, I could see Ellie getting more confidence and becoming more willing to accept human approach.

"On the fifth day, Katy worked with both the dog and me so that I would understand both the verbal commands and body language. We are continuing the training and socialization."
