"I'm always thrilled with a vendor that can come to our house on the same day we call them, provide an estimate on the same day they come and then do the work on the same day," he says.

After calling on The Door Works Co. Inc. of Portland, Ore., to replace the wheels on his glass backyard patio door, Michaelson says the $185 was money well spent.

"The wheels on our sliding door were failing," he says. "We actually had another vendor out who wanted two times the price for this fix, so when [Door Works] quoted us $185 - the other guy wanted over $350 - we said 'yes' on the spot."
