Column conundrum
COMPLAINT: Kathleen Dibiasio, Havertown, Pa.
"Jim Brouse Home Improvement replaced the iron poles that held up my awning with fiberglass columns. After they installed the new columns, there was a storm and the awning blew off to the point where it needs to be replaced. After the storm, the columns move from side to side, showing that the installation wasn't sufficient enough to hold the awnings."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a replacement awning installed with supports sufficient for the structure. Also, I want them to repair or replace the fascia, gutter and capping that were lost with the awning and repair any roof damage."

"Her awning blew off after 65-mph wind gusts. She called me, and I recommended calling her homeowner's insurance. They came the next day and paid the claim minus her deductible. I was out at 7 a.m. the next day with a crew to clean up and stabilize the soffits, gutters and capping - 10 man-hours at no charge. I feel, because her insurance paid the claim, my offer of my labor costs is fair. If she wants to pay her deductible and the insurance money, I will provide the labor."
