Trapper Jim the Critter Gitter
Failed to respond to Doug Byrnes' complaint that they didn't finish repairing a squirrel hole or provide a receipt for removal services. First month in the Box.
COMPLAINT: Doug Byrnes, St. Paul, Minn.
"I hired Trapper Jim the Critter Gitter to remove squirrels from the eaves and attic of my home. I agreed to their price of $245. As promised, Trapper Jim used their squirrel-removal technique - setting a live trap on my roof and plugging an open squirrel hole - and I paid them in cash before they left. The next day, the live trap caught a squirrel. They verbally guaranteed that they'd remove all the critters and follow up with me to set up an appointment to repair the squirrel hole themselves or instruct a contractor about how to perform an adequate repair.
"I was leaving town the next day and told them that I'd follow up with them when I returned regarding whether or not I'd have them or a different contractor perform the repair. When I returned, I left them a message saying that I wanted them to repair the squirrel hole after they had removed all the squirrels to their satisfaction.
"I never received a return call from them despite numerous attempts. I also never received a receipt I need for my income taxes for the $245 I paid them. The squirrels eventually returned and raised a family of six. I finally trapped and removed them myself and paid another contractor to repair the holes. I'm disappointed and irritated because I felt like they misrepresented themselves."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a full refund - $245 cash or check. If I can't get that, I want a receipt for their initial services."
STATUS: Penalty Box
