A Dog’s Best Friend Inc. won the Angie's List Super Service Award in 2009, and also six other times since 1999. Moss, a groomer for 34 years, says she’s realized her dream of having her own place to provide an enjoyable grooming experience for pets.

All pets receive quality grooming in a safe and comfortable environment at A Dog's Best Friend Inc., says Pat Moss, owner of the company.

Each pet is assigned a personal groomer, she says, so the groomers and pets become familiar with each other, and the animals are more relaxed during the service.

Angie's List member Sue Spangler of Charlotte says the staff at A Dog's Best Friend are tops. "My two dogs come home looking great and feeling good," Spangler says. "I've had pets for more than 30 years, and they're the best I've used in grooming."

The animals' comfort is an important aspect of her job, Moss says. The groomers fluff-dry all pets, which includes de-shedding the coat.

They also never use heated dryers or crates to keep the animals as safe as possible. "We even lift pets on and off of the tables and tubs for their safety," Moss says.

After receiving great service, many of Moss' customers refer their families, neighbors and co-workers to A Dog's Best Friend. "We repay their faith in us by assigning their referrals to their own personal groomer, and we give a toy to their pet at their next visit," Moss says.

Member Heather Holden of Charlotte says Moss' staff did a very thorough job of grooming her dog, and they work more quickly and cost less than other providers she's used. She also says she was able to get an appointment with little notice.

Moss says her favorite part of the job is grooming her pet clients.

"I've gotten to know each customer and their pet for three generations of pets in some families," she says. Customers tell her their dogs get excited and happy when they mention their groomer's name.

Moss is a 19-year member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America.
