O'Hare or Midway? Call a Chicago travel agent before you choose

The Windy City is a global travel hub -- as it should be! As the third largest city in the country, it’s no wonder that globetrotters are eager to stop by! As a Chicagoland resident, you reap the benefits of heavy tourism by having not one but TWO airports to choose from. But all of these choices can be confusing. How do you know whether to fly out of O’Hare or Midway?

O’Hare International Airport on the Northside of the Loop is infamous. The world’s third busiest airport has been named the “Best Airport in North America” on several occasions in the last 10 years. If you are traveling abroad or for business, this may be the choice for you. O’Hare offers more frequent flights to a longer list of destinations. Stuck with a long layover? O’Hare boasts an elite list of cuisine and upscale shopping post-security.

Customer Service Rankings of US Airlines

The extensive amenities of O’Hare Airport come with a few drawbacks. All of the busy bodies at O’Hare can make security checks take significantly longer. O’Hare is also notorious for long delays, and you may find that traffic is heavier en route to the airport.

Option number two is Midway International Airport. A huge pro of flying out of the Southside is the low cost flight options. Midway is a hub for Southwest, an option not available at O’Hare. Though you’ll be taking a pass on the glitz and glam of O’Hare’s amenities, most travelers report quicker security checks and less hassle at Midway.

Confused yet? You’re not alone! Travel websites make it difficult to get a source of neutral information. A travel agent can help you find the best flight plan for your lifestyle. Luckily, Angie’s List members have listings for more than 1,600 Chicago travel agents. Give one a call before you hop on the next flight!
