Noblesville dry cleaner accused of ruining silk bedspread
COMPLAINT: Jerry Mace, Noblesville, Ind.
"I took my custom-made, 100-percent silk bedspread to Bolden's Dry Cleaners [at 151 N. Eighth St. in Noblesville] to have it dry cleaned.
"They did not read the 'dry clean only' tag and washed it, shrinking it and damaging the material. The bedspread is now 3 inches short on each side. It no longer fits my bed and the material has no shine to it.
"I asked them to reimburse me for the cost of the bedspread and three pillow shams because the shams are the same material and no longer match the bedspread. They agreed to pay for half the cost of the bedspread but refused to pay for the pillow shams.
"They've cleaned this bedspread and the shams before, and it was fine. I contacted the company that made the bedspread and shams, and they told me the material is no longer available. Now I have to select a new material to have a new bedspread made, which is at least a three-month process.
"Bolden's refuses to reimburse anything to me until I bring in the old bedspread which I can't do until I receive a new one. The damaged bedspread cost $1,563, the three shams cost $870 and the 'dry cleaning' cost $22. Bolden's said they'll only pay me $675."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want them to reimburse me $2,455, so I can have another bedspread and shams made."
