Floor war
COMPLAINT: Jeffrey Meyerson, Coral Spring, Fla.
"I hired the Home Depot's Expo Design Center in Davie to install approximately 1,000 square feet of laminate flooring with a limited lifetime warranty. They've now tried to install it three times, as the first job was botched and the product was defective the second time.
"Since this was the third time, I knew what to expect, both good and bad. What I didn't expect was that another defective floor would be installed and the project would be abandoned. This issue was escalated to the corporate level at Home Depot but they aren't honoring the warranty, claiming the concrete floor [underneath] is damp and causing the product to fail.
"The [new] flooring's moisture blocking system is supposed to protect it from this type of problem. Expo Design Center has admitted in writing the floor is delaminating, but won't take any action until the moisture issue is resolved - even though that was supposed to be a non issue."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "A refund or the installation of a different brand or type of flooring would be acceptable resolutions. Also, I'd like them to repair damage to the original flooring where it adjoins the new flooring."
STATUS: Penalty Box
