Matthews client takes issue with tiling work
COMPLAINT: Lauren Woodworth, Matthews,N.C.
"I hired Carolina Colonial of Indian Trail, N.C., to locate and repair a leak causing water damage on a wall adjacent to my master bathroom shower. David [Linder, the president] determined the cause was the fiberglass shower pan, which was removed and replaced with a tile shower pan.
"Water still leaks in the same location as before, so it is apparent they did not correct the cause of the leak. To make matters worse, after being redone four times - because of uneven tiles, sloping or grout issues - the shower floor is still wrong."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "Because Carolina Colonial refused to honor the written 18-month warranty on workmanship, I paid $425.85 for materials and other contractors to resolve these issues. I want to be reimbursed."
COMPANY RESPONSE: David Linder, president, Carolina Colonial Inc.
"Carolina Colonial fulfilled all of its contractual obligations to the member concerning the shower-pan installation. We never implied or guaranteed we would solve the pre-existing moisture issue. We have a proven track record of customer satisfaction. We came back and tore out the tiled shower pan, remudded and retiled it. We also provided additional gutter work at no cost, as we acknowledged and felt sorry for the initial job and the inconvenience. The leak in question isn't related to the new shower pan."
