Los Angeles decking experts weigh in on current trends

Steven Brombert, owner of highly rated Regal Deck and Stair in Los Angeles, says many trendy Los Angeles homeowners are personalizing their outdoor spaces with faux tile designs.

“It’s a big plus to the upscale homes,” he says.

Brombert says the square-tiles help homeowners individualize their decks and helps them not look so commercial.
John Arndt, owner of highly rated Coastal Construction in Seal Beach, Calif., says for customers looking for beautiful wood, Ipe is the best choice.

“I’d say the most beautiful decks that I’ve done [are made with] Ipe,” he says. “Composite can only get so good.”

Both tile and Ipe are more expensive choices, the experts say, so they only appeal to those willing to make an investment in their outdoor living spaces.
