Lacking lawn care
COMPLAINT: Mike Pearson, Las Vegas
"I prepaid Ryan's Landscape to perform an initial yard cleanup, followed by routine yard maintenance. The initial cleanup didn't occur on schedule. They were a no show without a call. They arrived the next week and did the job. The work was OK. But the lack of communication and the sequence of 'no-shows' continued.
"After numerous promises and excuses, I finally notified Ryan's Landscape by letter I was terminating our agreement. So far, I've received no response and they won't return telephone calls."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I want a $88.20 refund."
RESPONSE: Ryan Bentz, president, Ryan's Landscape, Inc.
"I am personally and sincerely sorry for any inconvenience caused to the member in regards to this matter. He does have a refund in the amount of $88.20 due. I will personally hand deliver his refund."

Insecurity
COMPLAINT: Joe Marquez, North Las Vegas, Nev.
"Security One installed a security system in my home that didn't work correctly. I called to try to fix the problem, and they asked me for my password. I was told my password was incorrect and they couldn't help me.
"After I didn't cancel the service within three days, I was under contract for three years, even though the technician told me I could cancel within the first month. Now I'm stuck with an alarm system that doesn't work. Everytime I see it on the wall, I feel very disappointed about this company and its service."
DESIRED RESOLUTION: "I would like for them to come back and disconnect the system."
STATUS: Penalty Box
