McDermott, who meets with clients in their homes or in her studio, says more customers are looking for long-lasting pieces rather than choosing modern trends.

“I don’t think it’s a mistake but people are very fearful of using color.” – Susan Deneau, owner of highly rated Susan Deneau Interior Design in Santa Monica, Calif. Deneau says her clients are looking for simple, streamlined pieces for their homes.
