LA area vet comforts owner as dog is put down

When Divot the dog collapsed and couldn't move, Dona Tanaka appreciated that her highly rated vet made house calls.
"I had a feeling it was his time," says Tanaka of her 15-year-old Labrador retriever. "Dr. [Karen] Heard and her assistant came to the house. Given Divot's age and condition, we decided euthanasia was the right thing. When the end came, they made a difficult experience as comforting as possible."
